turbocad's custom fx

so many things I want to do, but not enough extra time:smile:

I gotta do the tails & fogs after these to complete the lighting...

Those light look like abit of work. Still interested in getting those side mirror led's done like you showed us

yeah, these lights are a lot of work, I really want to just finish them & move on, I even got a few tiny marks on the chrome rings & was thinking of redoing them with a few more sets, but I think I'm going to just finish them & paint them completely black, then maybe paint the rings silver or something... I originally wanted to maintain the chrome for the rings, but It's tough to not make any marks on the chrome while doing this, especially when you drop them a few times :tongue:maybe later I could redo another set of faceplates now that I got all the cuts figured out, the housings & projectors would all already be done so swapping them out later is not too bad

the mirrors aren't too hard to do really, I think most of the reason I'm procrastinating there is cause to mount these I gotta wire through the door jambs too, & I would also have to wire through the doorjambs when I do my system for the door speakers too, so rather than doing it twice I'm waiting till I'm ready to really build the doors in one shot. If you want this mirror mod I already made templates for the cuts in PS, I could give you the file & you can print it & transfer to contact paper, then lay these on your covers & do the cuts... the mirrors are pretty easy really with these templates, all you gotta do is cut a clean hole... I'll post up the files later...

with the drop I just did, it adds a bit of a rake to the stance, you can feel the difference when driving, you can also feel now that the front spring rate is stiffer than the rear now... not 100% happy there. I want to go back in there & play with the rear springs a bit more, cutting them is not as straight foward as the front cause they are altered at each end... I got a few ideas there though... I'll see how that goes. ultimatley I guess air is the best solution, just finding space for a compressor, tank & valves is an issue. rookie, what did you use for the front bags? is there a strut setup that bolts in like the shockwave style setup? the rears look easy enough...

working on the headlights... angel eyes are pure white & from the front... these are the oposite, red glow & from behind.... may I should call them demon eyes:tongue:

I'm going to fill each headlight with the leds from one tailight, from behind all around each projector. 2 brightness levels would be the equivelent of tail light/ brakelight. should look cool... these can be on with or without the headlights...

this picture is just a few led's

sure, forgot to post them... if your going to do this, print out these files left & right, transfer the image to a piece of normal hardware store contact paper with a permanent marker, then apply the contact paper to the mirror with a soapy solution... one or 2 drops of baby shampoo to a whole spray bottle of water is about right, slide it into position to line up the outside marks with the edge of the mirror (when you do it you'll see what I mean) then squegee it & let it dry. then, take an exacto knife & carefully cut out the center, then drill & cut the center out... leave room to the edge, don't try & make this exact cut in one shot or you'll ruin it... cut inside the line, then work your way closer to the line... when your pretty close switch over to a file... it looks cleanest if you bevel the edge towards the inside... finish off with sand paper... if you do a really nice job with this you can make these cuts without even having to repaint the mirror covers even.

WARNING: don't say I didn't tell you this!!!! before you do anything else, after you've printed the template, DOUBLE CHECK the cut by cutting it out of paper & test fitting the light to that... different pictures & different printers can sometimes alter the size slightly, don't just cut without double checking. if the printer tells you some cropping will occur then let it, do NOT click "fit to page" this will throw off the scale....

you must have these lights in your hands to be able to do this right, you shouldn't even think of doing these cuts without having the light... even though there is a template, you still want to do test fitting as you finish the filing of the opening... the template is a guide & not necissarily absolute... the real absolute is the light itself... cut slowly, it's much easier to trim a little more than it is to add material if you cut too much... I'll put part #'s up for the lights a little later

ok, I tried to print the jpg's that I posted here, but the scale is just way off, when I print my original psd's from photoshop it works fine, I'll try to see if I can put the psd up for this, for some reason it doesn't work when converted?

heres a few shots of this mirror mod. I did a set of covers for someone & the covers were already painted, it still worked out well enough & I didn't need to repaint the covers... heres the shots... as long as you have a dremel YOU CAN DO THIS!!!

I can't get the psd small enough to upload... it's like 852kb one layer? any idea how to convert this to jpg & keep the scale?

Looks really good. WOW damn man i never checked my inbox after i PM'd you i didnt see your reply...my bad

also, I know I haven't even finished my headlights yet, but I started to rip into the tails... hers a few shots, this is not a final design at all, more just testing & experimenting at this point, I'm not crazy about this look, but it's a start. don't know what I'll wind up with here yet...

I don't think I've seen anyone screw with the tailights, nothing like the headlights really, the tails are tricky to work with... anyone got any shots of any modified tailights?

You are gonna want to TM "Demon Eyes" for red! LOVE it! Nice touch! Oh- Can't do red in the front tho. Big law enforcement no no. Maybe turn em on and off at will...
Edit- Demonize? Demon eyes hits on Google.
