GT Spec Suspension Bracing

Ya know that feeling when you just feel so connected?
Took the most beautiful, controlled slide from a standstill at an intersection just earlier. Not with too much pedal, but just the right amount to get a feelgood tire spin, slide, correction . . . .& off I go. dam! it felt good. LOVE my braces!
Had to share

hey JC:

thanks for taking the trip out here. Putting up the install pictures on our site now. Can you send me the Hi-Res one ?

thanks !

Quick question to JC & GTSpec:
Do these braces prevent the plastic belly to be mounted back up? It looks like the tie brace goes under it but the 4 point brace goes over it (ie, exposed)..

No, it doesnt prevent it. There's enough room between the plastic and the brace itself. As far as the 4 point brace, it goes over the plastic cover therefore it will be exposed.

Hmm....so the 4 point brace will have to be removed for oil changes and possibly bumper removal?

Ah, ok I thought they were talking about the back portion of the front piece.
I believe it is the back portion of the plastic belly pan. I think only the front piece needs to be removed for oil changes.. Correct me if wrong..

I spoke with Ken from GTSPEC on the phone.
Very nice guy and very professional. I don't want to stir anything up put I thought this must be said.
GTSPEC's only interest is to get the products to the consumers hands, bottom line. He told me that they are promoting the products through the forums so they can be more in touch with the end user. I think this company has the right idea!

Ken stated that the braces for the FX are a new product and with all new products, they will go into production and be available after some time, but this is a process. He indicated that the parts will be in the production line in about 2 weeks and they will make X (not clear on count) amount of them and eventually stock them either in house or at distributor locations. With that said, the GB will get the parts to you sooner (1-2 months sooner. includes customs) because GTSPEC is paying for EMS (air freight) from overseas. Normally the parts come on ocean freight, which takes more time. I would believe either transit will require a 1 to 2 week customs inspection time when it arrives. Also our vendor here has asked for 100% payment which they have every right to do (I would, it reduces admin time and paperwork ) but they do not have to pay 100% for the product until they receive it from GTSPEC (only 50%).

I thank Z1 for taking the initiative to bring the first GB in and continually supporting us here. Z1 will provide the braces to you sooner if you want it sooner, but GTSPEC (and other vendors) will have these braces by the end of Sept (as per Ken)(at least by Oct)
No knock on Z1, but we are a close knit community and sharing ideas and comments is what we do.

I would like to propose an idea. Instead of a GB, we can have a internal list and payments made to a IS account (hypothetically) and we can deal with vendors as one entity. That will make less admin work for the vendor (more work for Admins )and hopefully reduce costs. IS will be essentially a 'reseller'.

:tongue:no flame intended:err:

Thanks a lot Merchant! The IS account idea is a very good one! Now THAT's what I call flexibility.. No hard rules to follow...

I'd generally agree with most everything you said except to clarify a few points

1. time frame - GT Spec will not have these by September unless the GB happens. The September timetable is with the group buy going ahead. Without it, yes they will be produced, but there will not be any priority placed on it, and the release date would be some point in the future (not yet determined by GT Spec). I had this exact conversation with GT Spec both yesterday and today.

2. Prepayment - yes, it makes it easier to administer. Without that, we run the very real risk of not being able to contact people for the remaining deposit, and then having people who have not yet paid, ready to pay to take over spots for those who have deposits, but who are not responsive to paying the remaining balance due...becomes a nightmare to administer and manage. Doing it this way makes it much easier - you prepay the amount, when we place the order with GT Spec, we prepay to them, they arrive, we ship...case closed, couldn't be easier. If making a deposit makes it easier for you guys to deal with, then I can discuss it with GT Spec and see if they are ammenable to it.

3. That is exactly what is being done. In order to purchase a GT Spec product you have to go through a dealer...in this case, we are the dealer. This is all we do all day long....take orders, ship parts. It's no additional work for us to process and ship another 20 orders a day, it's what we do in the normal course of business anyway

thank you for clarifying that for us. I think your point 3 contradicts point 2 on your post, but I digress .

Before I made the call to GTSPEC, I was under the impression that if the GB does not go thru , then no braces would be made. Also I just wanted to get clarification about rights to sell the brace (Kwame mentioned these where only available thru Z1?). Ken was very informative and answered my questions.
As indicated by GTSPEC, they will produce these, if in time the demand is less than they will stop production and have them on special order process.

again thank you for your professional response.

To clear some things up,

1) GTSPEC does not sell direct to consumers, this is our policy and purchases must be made through our dealers.

2) Even if the GB falls through we will still produce the braces for inventory and sales through our dealer network.

3) It was GTSPEC who solicit Z1 to conduct the GB due to the success of the GB from the rear lower braces.

4) The qty of 20pcs of each brace is due to the consideration of the air freight via EMS for faster delivery time and to rush production ahead of other planned production schedule. The requirements for acquiring necessary raw material and tooling for the custom mounting solutions was also taken into consideration for the minium quantity of 20pcs. There are also other factors to consider on the manufacturing side but I won't get into that as that's our problem, not the consumer's.

So for the members seeking other methods to acquire these braces, you can wait for the normal inventory to arrive and purchase through our dealer network. However, the arrival of the normal inventory will be later than this GB.

if I only want to get one of them cost-wise, which one will be more beneficial?

1. STB (keeps the front struts from moving, if you have it,
2. rear brace (keeps the rear struts from moving, if you have it,
3. Lower tie bar (keeps the bottom of the front struts to move),
4. 4-pint brace (Keeps the frame of the car from twisting).

Technically, I think, the whole reason behind all these braces is for the car to be more of a Cube and not bend out of shape in high speed turns.

Now there is also the Anti-sway bar which keeps the car from leaning out of the curb. AWD comes with it, and RWD does not.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

so is there a big difference between STB and lower tie brace? since both of them keep the front sturuts from moving.

also most of us have STB, will a 4 point brace be more beneficial?
