GT Spec Suspension Bracing

so is there a big difference between STB and lower tie brace? since both of them keep the front sturuts from moving.

also most of us have STB, will a 4 point brace be more beneficial?

I think so. It will make it that much more stable. However, if you don't have the rear, I would start there first.

Personally, I just ordered my rear's, and I'm waiting for the Lower fronts.

That's a good question, since the braces are a bit more then most people originally thought they'd be, what would be the better buy for someone who's under a budget?
The 4 point or lower STB?

if you're on a budget... I say STB... if you're on a VERY tight budget I say go with a used Stillen STB... their going for like $100

uhhh . . ya

Just working right now. Jump back & forth to rest the tablet hand. Very Busy time of year for me right now, & night induces the creative juices . . . not the white kind :err:
Besides, I can work without the damn phone ringing every 5 minutes.

Look clean enough to eat off of! Good enough to be on display at a museum.
Also, nice touch on the blue color of the engine oil piece.

Valve covers were Kandy matched. The MAF is the 3" aluminum MAF housing Z1 sells. Got it polished out.

front lower engine brace if you want to get one. this brace will reinforce the front chassis to give additional support to prevent twist/flex in the engine bay.

FSTB (Front Strut Tower Brace) brace the strut tower and lets the suspension (springs, struts and bushings) work more efficiently. It's been proven on a S15 with coilover and the addition of a FSTB the stroke of the coilover increased 6mm. Lower tie braces acts as lower strut brace by bracing the lower suspension (most of the time control arms) mounting points. Essentially the STB and lower tie brace creates a box to distribute the input of the road and prevents chassis brace.

I just had my rear bars installed yesterday and haven't had a chance to really flog her yet. Living in Manhattan doesn't bode well for spirited driving.

Although there was one moment when I had to do a semi quick lane change on a potholed area. The back end swung around much faster than normal and I was in the new lane so much faster than I expected. Don't know it this was a result of the new bars or just a fortunate occurrence.

Either way, I'm excited to hit some decreasing radius on/off ramps soon!

sounds good, sounds like braces are helping. Did you buy these with the GB?

Just an update for all those who are waiting on the front braces ...

Mark contacted me last week and he told me that the hardware we were waiting for finally arrived. So I headed out to GT Spec again last Thursday and they installed the 4 point ladder brace. I just want to apologize to our members coz I forgot my camera @ home and I wasn't able to take pics of the hardware itself. We were only able to take a picture of the brace installed.

The installation itself was a breeze, but I recommend to have it done professionally. As per Mark, GT Spec is going to have a list of tools that you're going to need if you decide to install it yourself. Here is a quick pick of GT Spec's website.

As far as the installation goes, I'll try and explain as best as I can.

The new hardware replaced the the bolt on the blue marking, its just another bolt with a thread on top so that you can put another bolt on top of it to hold down the brace. The ones marked in pink are bolts that holds down that factory brace (right below the 4 point brace), you have to loosen the factory brace and then install the bolts where it's marked in blue to align it properly so that you dont strip the bolt..

The toughest part of the install is where it's marked in red. Make sure you mark the bolts when you remove it so that you dont lose your alignment. Also, having to find the socket set to fit between the hole was a pain but we did it. You're gonna need a thin wall socket (short one) and the size I believe is 19.
