GT Spec Suspension Bracing

the cam washer is a washer with the center hole drilled off center, it's called a cam washer cause it looks like the cross section of a cam at the lobe... picture a restricted area for the washer to sit in, it can't move side to side... as you turn this washer you are then moving it's center either in or out... so if the center is at 12 oclock relative to the actual center, the adjustment is centered, at 9 oclock it may be all the way out & at 3 oclock it would be all the way in... this is how the suspension geometry is adjusted... this center is the position of the arm as it passes through the bushing...as long as the cam washer stays in it's position nothing changes... like viet said, make a mark on the washer & the adjacent area & then you'll know it is in the same position...

Actually those camber washers are on pretty tight. I did mark mine too when I had the install done at TS, but the washer never moved when the nut was removed. Just have to lock down the other side of the bolt when reinstalling the nut.

Nice pictures Dave. I am glad that the clearance is a non issue for the nismo setup. Wonder if this will also be the case with the stillen.

+1 The nut were on really tight, thats why I used a pipe at the end of my wrench for leverage. The same here with the washers didn't move at all.

Those are some great pic's Dave...looks like you crawled all the way under the car.:top:

Thanks for the explain on the washer. Makes sense. Looks like I'm good to go.
Pictures? Crawl? Hell no! Swivel cam FTW!!!

OK, . . . so I was able to cruise a bit after work.
So far, what I notice is, less body roll on sweeps, & very predictable correction when pushed hard. Chassis rigidity is enhanced, but ride is unoticably rougher . . to me.
Best of all, butt stays planted on turns with uneven surface. That was probably my major gripe with my setup. Although it always stuck real well, thank you Pirelli, I feel more comfortable when the road gets rough. I need a bit more time behind the wheel for any kind of in depth review, but overall, this seems like a very good susp. mod.

saturday project... and my Ypipe.. too bad i quit my show that had the car lift... prolly woulda been nice to use

Did more driving today. Bars are a must have. Rigidity is awesome. Feels like a diff car, chassis wise. No bob over speed bumps or bumpy roads. Turns are much crisper.
I can hardly wait to see what attributes the front bracing will add.

stillen is a no-go... just reported in the other thread...

That too bad it didn't fit.
I know money is not an issue, but you had to shell out cash for something that the vendor said it would absolutely fit. They should have taken care of you a little better from the get go.
Since we have one official vendor that sells the bars to us we shold be happy, guess we are at their mercy (only if you want one). I see them advertise on other sites also.

maybe they will give you a refund if you don't modify your exhaust.

the front and mid bracing you guys speak of... will they fit AWDs?

btw, I agree with everything on Dave's review... but with that said... I can think of 2 negative things to come out of this...

ready?

(...and I mean this in a good way  )

1) your tires are gonna go faster... because you're gonna feel like Mario Andretti and take the corners freeway on/off ramps with less braking, if any brakes at all (I guess less wear on the brakes then)

2) your mpg is gonna go down, cuz you'll most likely use more gas because you're gonna gun it out of every turn...

...so for those that are considering these bars... you have been warned

Those are like anti FX warnings.

From the pictures I've seen of the orange proto bars the mid brace bolts before the cats.

That's an AWD FX so it must fit.

Awesome Ken . . but isnt it true, that with every new mod, gas consumption goes up? . . . that is until you realize how much it's costing you. Then you revert back to grandma mode :frown:

This is the second time today you've posted absolute nonsense.

First and foremost at no point did we say it would absolutely fit with a Stillen, or any other exhaust. We were very clear, repeatedly, that the braces were designed around a stock exhaust. In fact, the question regarding the Stillen, and other aftermarket exhausts was brought up several times, and each time, we provided every ounce of information that we knew to be true.

From Kwame's post, in this thread, post #374:

"we nor can GTSPEC confirm whether or not it will work with every after market exhaust. I will be posting the official GTSPEC product release complete with photos in our group buy thread and from there you can make the decision of whether it will work for your setup or not."

So explain to me on what planet does that say it will absolutely fit with an aftermarket exhaust?

That being said, to whomever attempted to fit it with their Stillen exhaust...if it didn't work, you can certainly return the items for a refund. We're not here to sell you something you can't use.

To "the merchant", in the future, before you make an inflamatory comment as you did above, perhaps take the time to actually read and digest, all the facts.

+1

Dont go bashing our vendor on this!
& thanks Z1 for offering those that dont want to mod something to get it to fit, the chance to return.

You were more than clear, & the service you are providing the board is exemplary.

THX for a more than successful first of many Group Buys !!! :iS:

yeah, guys, no hard feelings, I honestly went into it knowing full well that it might have clearance issues with the stillen... & it was made clear that what ever knowledge they had with fitment was shared here.

no big deal really either way, not the first time I've bought something thinking it might fit & then winding up having to make it fit:smile: I'm just debating now weather I should bother chopping up the exhaust or just forget about these bars, or just build my own bars if they really do make that much of a significant difference in the first place... you guys are sure it's a worthwhile enhancement in the handling?

I hyped this up more than anyone. Humberto asked a while back if it would fit, and from my picture angles it looked like it would.

GT Spec and Z1 stand behind their stuff, no one wants anyone to have a bad experience more than me.
