GT Spec Suspension Bracing

Update. I Started taking the FX apart at about 12:30pm Saturday.

Got the Rear cross brace installed with no problems under an hour with a normal jack and a stand. Got the lower rear brace installed but the washer turned. so I had to put it back in position and make sure it was in the right place. at about 2pm I was ready for the fronts, and that's when things started going south.:embarrassed:

I start the with the Rivets and had to try to figure out the install based on the Diagram only, since the instructions is in Japanese. For the life of me I could not find the Youtube video, nor JC's thread. All I remembered was a comment by Turbocad6.

But it was not hard to figure out once I looked at the installed pics. The first rivet when in nice and tight. the second did not stay in all the way and although it's tight, it's slightly uneven. the third and fourth went in with some maneuvering since there was not a lot of room to hoist my tools to stop the middle spacer to keep from spinning.

It took a lot of tries but I finally got them to stop turning when I unscrewed the nut. the two Lower nuts underneath would not budge so I had to use some WD-40 to get them loose. It still took a lot of elbow-grease to get it open and I did snap my tool doing it. When I installed the right side, the Screw went in with an angle so the thread on one of the rivets is destroyed. I have to Drill it out and put in a new one.

Next I tried to installed the 4-point brace (now 2am after dinner and a movie). The nuts would not come off using regular tools and there was no room for me to try to use heavier ratchets. So I gave up on the 4-point brace for now and have decided to take it somewhere and have it done.

I Started on the Fog Mod at about 3am and was done with it at 7am. Wife found me on in the garage Passed Out at 8:30 and by 10am the car was back together and out of the garage. I have resorted to taking my coffee intravenously.

hahha, sounds like you had fun.

to say the least. By the way, I tried the GTSpec Strut bar, and as you had predicted, it was touching the Supercharger.

the nuts do screw in, but there is not enough thread on the screws for me to add a spacer. :frown:

I'm gonna find out what it would take for them to create a arched cross bar. Probably not worth it.

haha , I know how you feel.... "all you do is work on the FX all weekend..." lol:cry:

Tonight, she was complaining to har mom about the:iS:.

She was telling her that I've found a bunch of new friends and I chit-chat all day lond. So her mom askes about what? And she said, "They take pictures of their cars and they talk about it." lol:laugh:

thats funny you said that, cause she mentioned having her own things to do, like starting school.
But I straighten it out with her already:wink: Marriage is (like) life, never know hows its going to turn out.

so this is what i have to look forward to in marriage?

Marriage is like a constant battle and in most cases, there are always secret plots. There are undefined periods of peace, while parties plan for their next attack.

It does not come with Operating manuals and there are no standard rules. In fact, the rules always change and there are new amendments to the old rules. Although Patience is the key to a good marriage is usually a scarce commodity.

I've been married twice and let me tell you this. Everyone who is single sees more benefits in being married, and everyone who is married, wishes they were single again (at least some times.)

We should start a new thread on this.

Somebody should jump on this . . . maybe the last of their kind :4tongue:

I didn't read through the entire thread, but are they going to be discontinued or something?

They don't make this for the FX. They make them for the Z's and the G's. They did a limited batch for the FX and did a Group Buy to get it done. Unless they have enough orders they are not going to mass produce them.

New Mod alert!!

Yep I got 'em. One of the two remaining sets that were left. Soon as I heard, there wasnt a chance I was letting this out of my hands. Especially knowing that there may never be a 2nd production run.
I dont have the driving time on them to give a well rounded review, but from the little that I've driven, these bars are a deffinate want for those that are into close to perfect balanced handling.
First impression is that the front is way stiffer, & the ride quality seems all the better.
install was pretty straightforward, but I have to warn, dont even attempt if you dont have access to a lift & impact gun. I had to disconnect the steering arms on both sides to get my socket in for tightening on the ladder brace (you'll see below), & I had to bend a line at the front for clearance of the front bar (no bigee).
Otherwise, they went on without any fitment issues. The hardware used to put the insert in is pretty ingenious. JC posted the vid on page 29. That was fun getting those in, & that's also where you need the impact gun, unless of course your name is Arnold . I'll have more to say later on, but for now, if you're thinking about kicking yourself for not fetching a set, . . you probably should.
