turbocad's custom fx

I can't think of any car that I've ever had & said" OK, it's 100% finished, needs nothing else"... don't happen for me normally, & when it does, then I loose interest & start eyeing other projects... even when I do finish certain cars to a certain extent, it's not long before I either find something else to do to it, or even at that point decide to re-do it even:tongue:

it's more like a constant cycle than a project that just gets completed really, with just about any car, there is ALWAYS something else that can be done, or even redone to be better, although recently I've really concentrated on doing something 100% the first time so when one thing is finished I normally don't have to ever go back & redo the same thing again...

the real goal now is to at least have it finished & complete & usable, presentable & intact until the next mod... when I was younger I used to at times drive around with cars in various states of dis-repair, driving with half a dash( or NO dash) or with wires hanging all over the place, half in primer maybe, mismatched & incomplete.... now, I try to do my mods off the vehicle & then install, more like a modular approach, so it's done really before the mod even, but not finished to the point of it needing no more mods:biggrin:

this also goes a long way in helping me have patience to finish my next mod more perfect... it could take six months to finish my headlights & it's perfectly fine, the vehicle is still complete & fine without it, so theres no real rush... with this approach, even if lets say I never finished a particular mod, it don't take away from the vehicle overall... most of these mods now are not really necessary, so the vehicle does not suffer while waiting for the next mod for the most part...

when the painting & the dash was completed & everything was all polished up & buttoned up, new wheels bolted on, at that point it was done enough to be considered fine as-is, done, so in that sense it was done a while ago now... but then of course theres always something else to add... now a days I refuse to drive around in a car that is in pieces though, done that way too many years & I refuse to do that any more for the most part... so in that sense yeah, it's done, till the next mod that is:biggrin: but done to the point of that's it, needs nothing else... that ain't happening, not any time soon anyway:tongue:

For some reason, I don't doubt you .. .. Keep doing what you do man, you do it very well!! I know most of us here wishes we had the skills (and the time) to put into our rides. Since we don't, we can just live vicariously through you.

Umm....geez John, I think the time it took for you write that reply and for me to read it, you could have finished another mod on the fx:tongue:, j/k. Keep doing your thing buddy!

if I spent as much time modding as I spend talking about modding then yeah, look out:D during the day behind my desk though it's hard to do any actual modding:cool:

Hey y'all.. im a new member here ..

First of lemme express how extremly excited iam abt ur mods turbocad6 .. simply amazing!! i want to do the exact same thing .. so i might bug u regarding this till i complete it .. to be honest i want to fully modify my FX .. i slowly started modifying the car.. i didnt have the chance to do anything since it was the only car i was using for work and all my transport .. so the only the thing i did till now was lowering the car, remove the roof rail and added ITG Air Filter when i had the car the first 2-3 months ..

For now i want to concentrate mostly on interior & exterior moding.. the engine and other car perfomance are not really a big deal and i think i'll discuss with Rookie regarding engine mod and body kit :)

I drive '06 FX35 AWD without navigation system .. so basically i got the factory Orange OEM display .. first of i was thinking of moving the OEM display down where the clock is and put a new display with NAVI & DVD.. and then thought of the same idea that Rookie did to his OEM display where he placed up with the headliner >> ///1233&page=2

but i really want to do the same thing u did and here are the questions !! lol
i already dont have NAV system and want to put it so bad .. so will i be able to have the NAV system too ?
I know that in US u got wireless network all over the place.. but we dont ..
i got an alternative solution for that which will be a 3.5G USB Data card connected to the PC.. so it'll be like 2 in 1 .. Phone and Internet .. will that work ?? i know it will, but i just need ur confirmation abt it ??

i hope u dont go like "Damn, he talks a lot" .. hehehe well i hope i didnt say a lot :S

hey djlumi, the g4 is not very new, when it's in stock at the mp3car store it's cheaper than that price too, think it's around $1,500 or so.

i'm assuming you mean you want a carpc, yes you can do nav with it, & I connect all the time through my cellphone, wifi rarely.

if you want to move the orange screen to the console clock area that can be done relatively easily, you won't need to extend any harnesses even to do that, but overhead is extending the wires & can be done too. the g4 is not a bad unit but it's not necissarily the best route to go either, depending on how you want to go, the g4's can be very limited & streetdeck is not necissarily the best front end either

I would suggest considering a good screen like there transflective 7" & a seperate pc. the seperate pc can be anything from a smaller desktop to a laptop really, I personally always use laptops. I'm actually a moderator on mp3car & laptops is one of my forums. jan that runs the store is a friend of mine & there pretty good with there customer service... if your really gonna do a pc then spend some time there & read & learn, the more you learn & understand everything that's important in a carpc, the better your system will be. I'm not sure how difficult it would be to mount a g4 up in the stock screen area, but it would definatley be much easier & cleaner looking going with just a screen I think...

thanks for ur help turbocad .. i'll read from mp3car as u suggested.. i decided to do the same thing u did .. not 7" .. the 10.4" :D ...

will u be adding steps soon of installing the PC to the car or pics to help us out .. and some info abt the PC car software ur using and NAV system ?

LuMi

I don't plan to put togeather a guide for this 10.4" install really, but you can see many pictures & how that install came about in this thread:

http://www.infinitifx.org/viewtopic.php?t=15525

as far as front ends &nav, I use centrafuse with destinator, search these on mp3car to learn more there... I also on occation use roadrunner & I have iguidance nav software too, but prefer destinator for nav...

no problem. also, I hate to be the one to tell you this, you said your fx is an 06 & your sig say's 06, but your fx is not an 06 dude, it's definatley an 05 or less.

don't know if there was some screwup with the paperwork or worse when it was imported, but it def ain't an 06, what makes you think it is an 06?

Oversea's i believe the '05 FX is their '06.... or something like that.

really? I never knew that, one thing I've noticed is in my collision software database, it shows everything the same 03-06, then 07 as new style, just figured it was wrong?when I first started researching the fx, I thought the 06 was the same as 05, but quickly saw through the forums that I was wrong... guess that's only for the usa?

in the us the 06 no longer even had an orange screen at all & has the new dash & all the updated body trim & grille... ooops, guess it is an 06 there? sorry

papers say its the 06 .. and in the car registry it says 2006 ..
but as u guys said in US and overseas its different .. what we get he are gulf spec cars ? the milage is KM not Mile and when i actually planned to buy the FX i was planning for the 45 but it doesnt match our gulf spec. standards and coz of the heat we got here .. i dont know what it does to do with heat but that what the dealer said anyways .. lol

i just got bad news while typing this .. i left my other car (Honda Civic) for a wash and the guy who drove the car to park after the wash got into an accident in the parking lot !!! and apparently he doesnt have a driving permit !!! i just got back from the police station ...

Edit: I think i have a shot of the dashboard .. i'll try to find it and post it!

ok, I've been procrastinating with my headlights for a really long time now, partially because I wanted to play around with aux lighting... I originally thought I would fill the housing up with red leds from behind, well, it did look good, but when I brought the amber in to the picture it started to look more like a traffic light than a headlight, I played around with a bunch of different combo's, I think I settled on a good setup. I'm filling up the inner housings around each projector with bright white led's, they give the projectors a glow around the outer edge that looks similar to the halo effect, it also has some really cool looking reflection of the leds which look like little white dots in a circle... hard to discribe & hard to capture with the camera, but it looks pretty wild & unlike any other light treatments I've seen... these now are finalized & should go in pretty soon...
