GT Spec Suspension Bracing

Well I just ordered 3 bars, 2 lateral arms brace and 1 rear tie brace. Let me know if someone wants the cut portion of the lateral arm to split the cost.

I'm interested, but I'm in IL. How will this work?

I order 1 lateral arm brace and 1 rear tie brace. Then I split the cost of a portion of the brace; I pay you the split cost and you ship me the bar?

I guess I can find someone near my area to do the welding. I'm curious to how much extra portion of the brace we need and just want to be sure not to come up short.

Don't worry about coming up short as i used rookies remaining 'rear lateral arm brace' and there is still a bit left over for another weld on a 'rear TIE brace'. This is the thing, in order to have only one weld on the 'rear LATERAL arm brace' an extra rear lateral arm brace is needed so both members can use one of the ends. And the remaining middle pieces of it can be used for the tie brace. If you are going to use local welders in your area, make sure they use really strong material and not cheap ones.

Did you need any bolts/washers? Or do you just use the OEM bolts, so all you really need to do is:
1) buy brace, cut and extend
2) bolt right up using OEM bolts, nothing else to buy.

Yup! and paint or powdercoat if you like.

Hey Doc - any clearance issues? I remember driving behind ya that day from LMS and it was pretty low, have you scraped it or anything?

Gil - Yellow huh? I want it to stand out a lil too.......decisions decisions:confused:

Nope, not at all. You remember how hard I turned it around those bumpy street corners at LMS and there was no scrapes there. It may if i ever get airborne, lol.

Hm... maybe I'll just get the rear tie brace - will this piece alone do much or is really the rear lateral arm brace that does the trick. The rear tie brace is a no brainer to do and won't have any clearance issues with either the exhaust or ground. From the looks of it, the rear lateral arm brace looks to do the most to stiffen the car up.

I think it would take a lot to scrape the lateral bar on our FX. The G/Zs have an overall 27ish inches of wheel and tire, 13.5-14" from the hub to the ground. We have 30ish inches overall wheel and tire so 15" from the hub to the ground. Randy will scrape his bar but his rear end is fairly low. I wouldn't worry about scraping that bar for us.

Here's mine with the rear end dropped pretty low.

There would need to be a hump in the road as well as full suspension compression to even get close to scraping.

Man, you have a clean under carriage! Looks good.

How much are we talking about for cost on these bars?

About $100 for each bar + another $100 for the additional bar to cut and weld on + welding job + paint job if you desire + install if you don't do it yourself.

About a USD 400 project on the high end? A DIY possibly $300 total without splitting cost of 3rd bar? Just my guesses.

You can always just do one bar --- which I think I'm going to do.

Yeah thats true - it just looked really low when I was following ya.

Even better - since yours is lower than me and Doc.
Thanks for confirming that fellas.
Ordered my bars last night & splitting the cost with BaBa on the "Chop" Bar.

Got a call today - They are out of stock on the upper brace until early December...

That's too bad Will. You may want to try other vendors that may have them in stock or else just wait till Dec.

I meant possibly other vendors besides intense motorsports. Look on the GT Spec web site for a listing of their business vendors.

Same here....out of stock. They told me they will not have these in for a few weeks and that no one in the USA have these right now. I canceled the order and told them I will call them in a few week to see if there in and re-order. Anyway it looked like Will and I were going to have a hard time getting to TS during the week......busy weeks for me ahead.
