GT Spec Suspension Bracing

Powdercoating is done and will pick them up tomorrow. Don't know exactly when I can get them installed cause this weekend is pretty busy and no time on the week day after work.
 
Got the GT Spec bars installed today at LMS. Pretty simple install...bolt off and bolt on. The camber and toe in alignment didn't budge so that was a relief. But sorry to say that I didn't get any picture cause I forgot the camera at home in the morning. Will try and get some pictures within the next few days though.

I have to say I REALLY like the ride. with these 2 bars the rear of the FX feels much more stiff and grounded with alot less bouncing from the rear. Even when driving a straight line the rear feels much better stable to me. Took psiclne for a spin and it felt good around the turns but was not familiar with the roads around LMS so will have to save final judgment until I can take some aggressive on the normal daily turns I take. Thanks rookie for taking the plunge and doing this mod and taking all the guess work out of it.

Nice, I hope they produce these. Did GT Spec get the measurements or was this completely one off for your car? Since you have 3.0" inch piping, this should give extra clearance for us 2.50" oem piping.

When you say the camber/toe didn't budge, did you get an alignment after the install? If so, that seems like a very simple install, just bolt on and you're done. Nice work Pierce and Rookie (and whoever else was involved).
 
Awesome to hear it is a noticeable feeling for you as well. Although the FX feels and handles great the top heavy feeling is there, reducing it feels very good.

With Dr2ks modifications done to the bars, we can probably get a batch done at the same time thru TS or another shop that can weld accurately. I had talked to NRG and they said they would have these made but it would be minimum 100 bars which is way beyond a realistic number of buyers.
 
Yes Ed, it was just a one off for me by TS. They didn't keep rookies measurements or mine. No alignment was necessary after the install. For now, this mod will have to be done on an individual basis.

I would like to thank rookie for the use of his left over bar pieces as it did save me from getting an extra bar for this mod. Thanks again buddy!

Ok, I'm seriously looking into doing this. I would like to know if anyone else locally is also considering doing this mod. Just wondering if someone would want to split the cost ($89.00) of the bar 3rd bar or the bar that needs to be cut up for extension pieces. It looks like 2 people would be able to use 1 (scrap) bar to be able to get a Rear Tie Brace and a Rear Lateral Arm Brace fabricated.

Anyone else interested?
 
It's a good mod guys, I promise. :D 2 people doing it at once can also save on powdercoating the bars.

Sorry guys, was way too dam tired on Sunday to take pictures after my Sat. 12hr softball tournament marathon. Our team did end up winning the championship game but my body was sore all over the next day.

Will try and get pictures up this weekend.

Gil, I think Mark or Will maybe interested and I know others were too. Krayzie, i know brown was very interested in this mod. Talk to him and you two can probably split the cost of the 5th bar.

The bars don't have to be powdercoated either, just paint it to save some extra money as well.
 
With or without someone I am doing this. The cost for me to powdercoat is no problem. I'll have it done at a hole in the wall place near me that will probably do 2 bars for $20 bucks any color, going yellow.

SAME:cool:! i talked to Pierce asking the same thing, but it wont be cost effective and it will be time consuming to do it on a one member basis...

i guess the best thing to do is start an official list and go from there so here goes:


1. brown_fv - rear lateral arm brace, rear tie brace (painted or powder coated, however the "gb" goes)
 
im in the same boat as Brown. Maybe we could slap some IS logos on these bars

Well I just ordered 3 bars, 2 lateral arms brace and 1 rear tie brace. Let me know if someone wants the cut portion of the lateral arm to split the cost.

Is TS open on the weekends? I cant make it there during the week - no more Vacation time left.
Mine should be Identical with Docs right since we both have the Nismo?
