VQ Throttle Body Spacer Mod

There's your answer.
DaveO also mentioned that in the testing, tbs seemed to respond much better to a good CAI design, and those without it were not getting the potential gains. You should pick up jeffs spare filter and play with some things. The whizzzzz is a must have IMO.

I cant justify spending more money on something to get a whizzing sound hahaha.
Its been a couple days now - and about 100 miles put on with this TBS and I dont feel a thing.

Looking at Shadyjc's original Dynos from the LMS Ztube vs the LMS CAI - the difference was +4 hp using the CAI.

ShadyJC said:
My baseline dyno (my engine mods were a 1/2" Motordyne plenum spacer, a K&N filter and a Borla muffler in the exhaust) read as follows - max HP 228, max TQ 214.

With the test intake tube going back to the stock box, the dyno reads as follows - max HP 231 (+3 over baseline), max TQ 216 (+2 over baseline).

With the test "cold air" intake, the dyno reads as follows - max HP 235 (+7 over baseline), max TQ 221 (+7 over baseline).

I never posted a pic of the whizzzer.

Ok. TBS installed....noticible gain?...ah...hard to tell...might have added 3~4hp didn't notice difference in sound either...will drive around more at night if I can feel/hear the difference. :)

Are you sure brown? hahahaha Im just messing with you.......

The LMS Ztube is a tight fit already as it is - when they designed it was made specifically for our cars. The TB spacer is about an inch thick - so when you put the TB spacer on, the ztube is too long. So you have to cut about an inch off the ztube to get it to fit properly.

I'd never install a throttle body spacer. I just don't get it, if you really think about it, it shouldn't do a thing. Conditions alone will give you more of a difference in dyno than you can possibly see with this thing installed.

The topic of turbulent vs laminar flow is, IMHO, extremely irrelevant in regards to our car atleast.

The flow path is not a straight tube, after all. It has many bends and then must divide into 6 different intake runners. Anything before that is either restricted or free flowing. Whatever you do goes one way or the other, restricts or allows more free flowing air.

The only exception to that is forced induction or ram air.

sorry to bring up an old thread, but does anybody know if i can still get my hands on one of these? the price and possible gains are appealing :)
thanks!

you might need a tune afterwards because it messes with the A/F ratio...you may or may not need to cut your tube (Will had to cut his pretty LMS tube)

i have thje stillen w/z-tube bu tthe accordion thingy is still on. are oyu sure i need a tune? i read aroudn abouit it and apparently it's okay if you dont get one.

p.s. there isnt someone who will tune my car around me :( i'de have to driv einto the city or something haah. but ill be at vinny10 on friday so ill ask where i can get a tune.

what color should i get? haha
they are all $100

You might want to hit up lebron23 also - he has one and I think hes parting out his fx

o0o word? thanks for the heads up pscilne!

do you think this is worth the <$100? ahah

I dont - but you could read my comments on it in this thread. But other FX's say yes. basically 2 guys say no and 2 guys say yes. I didnt think it did anything & neither did Lebron23.....but Gto-Dave & this other guy on the Org said it works.

Dude...Vinny ten does like built engines, turbos, etc...they can hook you up with a tune no problem. they even said they could take care of my AWD FX when i was talking to them about a single turbo project.
