Transgo Shift Kit Installation

hi guys, i just want to introduce myself. I am from Vancouver, BC and own a 2005 Fx45.

I just recently had the transgo kit installed in my vehicle. First impression is that it shifts quickly and firmly into each gear especially in maual mode. One thing i noticed however, is that when i start the car and put it into D the vehicle has that forward jolt feeling. it wasnt as smooth as before. I was wondering if any one of you guys ever experienced that feeling.

Another thing i noticed when i slowly accelerate i feel a bit of a shutter in the initial take off. Again it doesnt bother me really, just something I noticed after the install. I am 100% confident that the install was done right as we used both the transgo instruction and the DIY on this thread.

My mechanic(also a friend) only charged me $350.00 for the install, but I felt that given the time and labour he put into it i decided to give him $500.00 instead.

My next mod is BC coilovers and spacers. Thanks for reading this longish post especially someone new to infinitiscene. :smug:

^I don't have either of those symptoms. Mine feels exactly as it did before the kit in both situations you described. Check the trans fluid level.

I don't have the issues either. Actually before when I used to switch from park to D...it would click and the car would buck a little. Now it's smooth...no click and no movement at all. I would have your guy check it.

Guys...jst picked up my FX today...Transgo kit installed!! 1st thoughts...what a difference. As everyone says...normal driving slight change. But took it on the 210 in LA and wow!! She now shifts thru the gears with ease....no lag like before. The car jst keeps pulling and I hit 90 before I knew it. After engine mods and exhaust...this is a must have. I didn't install myself even tho I wanted to try but I dont have a garage to do it..but still worth it for 800 all included. Next up...UpRev tune!!

cool, glad the shop worked out for you.

I really want to get this done, ... probably do it my self since I will have some time coming up.

Welcome to IS. I didn't feel any of the things you noticed. I did notice a light click/chirp as I shift into reverse. Nothing bothering, but just something I notice.

Hey la,
When u took these videos...is this with your UniChip in??
I noticed in "D" that your gears switch at about 5k rpms
and mine change at about 3k rpms. I know this has to do
with the computer controlled shift points...jst wondering if
this is with ur stock set up because I'd like my shift points
to be higher to.

Nope those videos were before the Unichip. I'm not sure if the Crawford Plenum or the UR Underdrive crank pulley has anything to do with it.

I think it shifts gears at a higher RPM if you give it more throttle.

Tried WOT but still does not shift that high. I think it's Andy's underdrive pulley that
is making the difference there. I'm still running my stock pulley but will be changing to
stock lighweight as soon as I can get this stubborn crank bolt off!! Lol

The underdrive pulley doesn't affect the shifting points. WOT from 0-60 should result in a near redline shift from 1st to 2nd gear. Try pushing the gas pedal harder  if that doesn't work, reset your ecu (pedal dance).

Yep, pulleys really wouldn't make a difference here... Honestly, imo pulleys are a waste of cash...

I have a question for anybody that has ever removed the VB. Is the filter (screen) removable without taking the VB out? Or are some of the bolts connected on the other side of the VB with nuts or something?

No the screen cannot be removed. Not sure how it attached to filter body, the kidney looking thingy as you see in the pic. take all the bolts out and the whole filter and screen come off as one unit.

You can get the screen out without pulling the vb, but considering how few bolts actually hold the vb in place, it would be easier to pull it so you can remove/replace the 16 filter cover bolts on your workbench instead of upside down in a puddle of fluid.
