Anyone have the Stillen valve body upgrade?? Is it similar to this?
Which would be the better choice taking into consideration that
you would have to pay to get it installed?

Nice! It's a PITA with only front ramps huh? Anything interesting happen during the install?

Well, I wanted to share your pain! :wink (2): Actually, his FX is on H&R springs with 35 series tires. The rear couldn't clear the ramp. So I have to use jack stands instead. The back it's a little lower, but very doable. I'm a skinny guy!

One advice to anyone attempt this DIY is to take pic as you go. What you take out and what you put in for any future reference.

Smooth sailing all the way. The only difference between his 45 and my 35 is the spring use in the Check Boost Valve. Per Transgo installation instructions, you need to look at the Check Boost Valve type you have in your valve body to determine which spring from the kit to be used.

FX45 uses the "Plain" colored springs from the kit.

FX35 uses the "White" colored springs from the kit.

Well hello Kitty :smile (2):

Good to hear the install went well. I hope your pump will go as smooth.

The other day I was thinking maybe it would be easier to buy a VB and do all the work on it, then just do a simple swap once that's completed. I thought I saw some retailers include a core charge if they do the VB work, which I assume they refund after you swap out VB's.

DIY Stu. You can do it. The actual work done to the VB is the super easy part. I'd consider a method that gets you out of dealing with the trans fluid mess, but not one that gets you out of the vb stuff. Once you have it out, swapping the springs and valves takes 20min tops. The Transgo instructions are very good at that point.

Just saw this tread and must saw a great job and write up
I went to all 8 pages as didn't want to ask a question twice but indeed found it so see quote. I also have read about these upgrades and was planning on sending mine to te guys from Level 10 as i have the tranny internals from them as well and was also planning on doing the tranny oilpump upgrade.
But ia gues it is hard to say what the difference would be with this kit and the upgrade. Level 10 mentionces in there website that the client can tell them how he wants his car to shift.....street setup or race etc.... and they will make that happen.
So outter then this spring kit what will they to.....and would it be a noticable difference to this mod.
I'm a bit affraid of sending my valve body accros the world to get this done honestly......

I don't recall anyone have the Stillen Valve Body upgrade here. For the record, I know Logan, jumbosrule, FX45Chicago and myself have the Transgo Shift Kit. Dr2k has the Level10 Valve Body upgrade. So far, those that have the Transgo Shift Kit have been very happy with the shift improvement.

So the Doc would hve the upgrade then. Cause i don't think that only concerns the kit and labor, cause they charge 600,- or some for the upgrade if you send it to them.

Doc could you chim in......??

F1FX and a few other G35s I know have the Stillen mod done. None were very happy with it overall.

Using core swaps isn't really recommended. I put my built tranny and VB into a G35 and the thing would not respond to the throttle, put my tranny into another FX and it was fine.

Thx Rookie,
Hey I'm in Socal also...could you recommend a place I could take my fx to get my VB upgraded then? Or somewhere that installs the shift kits? Any advice would be appreciated....

F1FX! Where is he... teases us with the non-widebody kit and I don't think I have seen him on since.

Mold still there for the front? Trying to get Humberto to haul one in his FX when he takes it on a tour to Chicago:laugh:
