Zlink CarPlay USB connection plus internet only:

Go to IPhone Settings/General/CarPlay then you should see zjinnova-blablabla... already.

Wifi in the head unit should be OFF

Hotspot and tethering should be all off (Go to: settings/wifi/more/hotspot &t tethering) Make sure all is off.

Turn ON wifi and hotspot in your IPhone, wifi should be ON but not connected. Bluetooth should be OFF. When your Iphone ask You what connection you want, always choose USB only.

Open Zlink (CarPlay) app. IPhone should have lightning cable connected already, then plug and unplug from USB port a couple of times (maybe more) until you hear 2 consecutive connected sounds. I noticed that if you don’t unplug it completely, it will connect faster, just wait for the connected sounds.

After CarPlay is connected. Go to the head unit settings and turn ON and OFF wifi a few times. If you don’t see your IPhone on the networks list then try turning ON and OFF hotspot in your IPhone a couple of times until you see your IPhone in the networks list in the head unit ( it will connect automatically). This last step is just to have internet from your phone for all the other apps in the head unit besides CarPlay.

I hope this helps. And yes, I couldn’t fit the bottom clips but now that I know what to trim in the dash to make it fit perfectly I have no complaints. I don’t like using Bluetooth because I have T-Mobile and my service is garbage. When I upgrade to Verizon, I hope to have better Bluetooth connection but for now I like USB connection because it is solid

This doesn't work for me. Anyway, it's a lot of work to have to do to get this crazy weak tablet to connect. I think I'm gonna shoot it. :)

I did all that only once. Every morning I just plug my lightning cable to my phone first and then connect the lightning cable to the head unit USB port ( I plug and unplug it very slowly, I just wait for the connection sound. Once I hear the first one I wait 1-2 secs for the second one. Sometimes I get on the first try, but never more than 3 times).
I went to the NAVI app in the head unit and chose Zlink to open immediately when I turn on the car. I just make sure my IPhone has the wifi and hotspot ON, Bluetooth OFF. Wifi in Head Unit has to be OFF. It always works on mine. I would reboot the head unit and forget all the networks in your IPhone and try again. Good luck.

(I don’t know how to explain this but I unplug it just enough to hear the disconnected sound and then I push a little until I hear the connected sound and then I just wait for the second sound, which confirms it is connected by USB. (0.0/KB should show on top of the screen)

Update: When plugging the lighting USB cable to the Head Unit USB port, plug it slowly until you hear the “connected” sound. Don’t plug it all the way in. I just tried this like 10 times and it connected every single time on the first try.

Did the above, even converted a pic of mine into a png unfortunately I see no way to open a USB file in file manager or anywhere else.

when I open FileManager I see Internal on left top corner. When I plug my USBdrive I see USB just below Internal. Then I click on USB and I can see all the files I have in there. Then I select the PNG folder where I put all my PNGs, then I checked all the ones I want to copy, then I click copy on the tool bar below. Then I go to internal on top left corner. Then I select portrait_carlogo( don’t check it, just click on the folder next to the check box) . Finally, I click paste on toolbar below.

I can send you my pngs if you give me email. This is the USB drive I used.

I appreciate the help. I think this is a hardware issue like most things with this unit. The flash drive has a png of my engine bay on it, done on my pc but the tablet doesn’t connect with it via the only usb cord that actually works. No recognition. The manufacturer clearly used the cheapest stuff they could find hence the Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity issues.

I got extremely lucky then. We’ll see how long it last. I honestly don’t give a dime about Bluetooth because I need to plug my IPhone to keep it charged regardless of the wireless convenience of Bluetooth. Now that I fixed the bottom clips not engaging issue, I’m in love with this unit. I have my 1st gen FX logo now. I suppose my rear view camera is going to work too. I just need to plan how to run the wires. I guess I should make a video about everything I did when I installed this unit. Try returning it and get your money back, otherwise it is going to be a daily headache. If my rear camera doesn’t work, I will buy one of those rear view mirrors with the feature included. Good luck.

You got skills son. Thanks. I needed my hand held. I can admit it. Thanks for the offer to send your pngs. The tablet picked up on it. Guess I gotta be persistant.
The pic doesn't look good at all on the screen but the 2nd gen is removed so :):biggrin:.

My advice for the back up camera if your's doesn't work via the actual rca/plug that's supposed to be used for this purpose is to use the pink "back-car" wire. I don't know if that works but Kirinavi insists that this is the way to go.

I was told to only use FlashDrive or USBdrive to copy files to the head unit. Did you make that png yourself or got from the web? I bet there is cool png of the engine bay out there so it doesn’t look square. Maybe it is possible to edit the engine bay and remove the corners to make it round. I‘m happy you made it work.

Now, about the rear view camera. The wiring I have on the back of the head unit has a Yellow RCA that is labeled CAMERA OUT, I thought that’s where I plug the YELLOW rca that comes from the hatch, but I don’t know where to connect the RED WIRE coming from the hatch. I understand the wiring to the hatch but I don’t know where to connect in the back of head unit. According to your previous post, the Yellow rca goes to the pink BackCar? If that’s correct, where do I plug RED wire attached to Yellow rca coming from the hatch door?

That’s my engine. Used a png site to do it. Yeah, it’d be nice to edit it but not sure how or if I’m interested in taking the time to find out and then actually doing it. The yellow wire is essentially useless. Before you install the camera, try it. Then instead, tap into the pink wire. I know the yellow one is bunk on my unit. You might have a red and a back on either end of the camera wire. The red taps into the reverse light power wire and the black is a
Ground.

Ok, if yellow rca goes to pink wire. Where do I connect the Red wire shown in the picture.

I believe you’ll want to forget about the rca and plug combo. Red to power, black to ground and what should be the 3rd and only wire left coming from your camera to pink.

So I was asking my seller to send me instructions on the rear view camera and this is what he sent me. What do you think?
The last picture shows the wiring diagram on a different head unit. They should have done that diagram with our head unit. Very confusing, I can see what you’ve been through with this rear view camera. Anyways, I’ll be working on it this weekend. Thanks for the help.

The red and black rca’s are the power and ground. We don’t have this as an rca option. I’ve got a crux camer from crutchfield which has a power and ground on either end of the camera but I only use one end of each.

Your camera should have 3 wires if you peel back the insulation. Try your rca option first. Shit, plug the camera into each rca cause ya never know but after kicking the folks at Kirinavi around, pink is the wire to tap into with your 3rd wire, the video wire.

Ok, I'm feeling a little better about this android unit. The bluetooth mic seems to function fine now. Not sure how that happened. The iphone will not connect via the usb to save it's life and I haven't tried the moto using android auto cause i don't use it much. Perhaps it's because the you can chose between wifi and usb for android but only wifi for the iphone???
Thankfully the bluetooth connection is really good. Apply carplay is pretty lame. To use gps you gotta get out of mirroring. The android radio cannot keep up with the phone at all. Iphone on bottom.
IMG_20200905_185832003.jpg
The second usb still doesn't work but I'll replace that. WIFI from the house to the android radio while in the garage is terrible but on my pc, laptop, tv's or the moto it's beautiful so this android unit def gots some cheap internals for sure. I do like the android radio though, just feeling like I got robbed. Instead of $650, a more realistic price would be around $400, especially coming straight from china and nearly zero customer service. I'll get around to installing the camera someday.

Make sure you choose USB connection only when prompted by IPhone.
When you plug your iPhone to the head unit USB port. Don’t plug it all the way in, just until your hear the sound for charging it. Sometimes I have to plug and unplug twice until I hear two consecutive sounds. Open CarPlay(Zlink) before plugging it.

My IPhone:
wifi ON but not connected
Hotspot ON
Bluetooth OFF

My head unit:
Wifi OFF

I get connected on the first try every time (twice max).

After CarPlay(Zlink) is connected. I procede and turn ON the head unit WIFI(sometimes I have to turn OFF/ON hotspot on my IPhone to show on the head unit Wifi networks list). The reason I turn ON wifi in the head unit is to have internet for all the other apps besides CarPlay(Zlink), otherwise only CarPlay(Zlink) would have internet.
If this doesn’t work on yours, restart/reboot the head unit And try again.

I haven’t tried the rear camera yet. I’m just trying to decide if I should tap the taillight reverse light with the camera the seller sent me or just get another camera where I just have to connect everything with the head unit.

Hi, just wondering if you have that RCA with two blue wires cut. Mine is not labeled CAM-IN, but I was checking head unit harnesses from AliExpress and looks like that is the one to plug the RCA coming from the back. Was it labeled CAM-IN on yours? Mine is just the yellow RCA with two blue wires cut already.
I also bought an extra 4pin USB cable(the only USB cable that works on our head unit) just in case mine gets damaged.
E99A759C-7BC4-43D1-BE81-7106AEA104AC.png

I recall seeing the 2 short blue wires but I don't recall if they were labeled. If I have time, I'm gonna attempt to get the camera going this weekend.

I'm never prompted about selecting usb. I get carplay up on radio then I cannot use the internet on phone. I've tried connecting as per the above. I can no longer connect the radio to the phone for internet use, including gps. The instructions above simply do not work. Somehow it's gotten worse and as I just wrote, now the damn thing won't allow the internet to function on the phone. Nutz and really fucking irritating.

The usb plugs are so cheap that we need to plug and unplug and partially plug multiple times to get it to register.
I set up everything as written above and when I connect the phone via usb zlink pulls up "please select connection mode" with 2 options for Android and one for iphone which is for wifi yet wifi must be turned off and even if that weren't the case, wifi no longer functions on my iphone when connected to this shitty radio. I'm gonna shoot it.

I finally get the iphone to show up on the radios wifi, give the password and then nothing. I see it under saved networks but who cares, connect God damn it, connect! This is such a finicky pos.
