What other cars did you consider buying before the FX?

Because of the market conditions here in Australia, in that Infiniti is having a hard time gaining ground in this hyper competitive market and with the recent change to the model line-up with 'Q' designations; I picked up a brand new 2013 Infiniti FX50s 5.0 for a ridiculous price. I was originally intent to put an order in for a new Porsche Macan, but in the end I couldn't rationalize spending twice as much for the same features and performance. Of course, I wasn't willing to wait until late 2014 to actually take delivery either. Good things come to those whom wait they say, yet in this case better things come to me for not waiting. Comparatively, the Macan would cost $145,502 Drive Away here in Australia... That's a lot of money for a badge.

I looked at the BMW X series, but concluded that they were all hideous and look like failed photo-shop experiments. The Range Rover Sport was nice, but to be honest I simply don't want to be associated with the brand or the stigma attached to it's pretentious community. The ML class Mercedes was nice too, but i'm not a fan of the body shape or the driving dynamics of the AMG version; not to mention being stupidly overpriced. The Audi Q5 TDI was impressive, but looks generic and common. The Lexus rx450h is.... well, the rx450h. Yet my girlfriend and I were very impressed with the Volvo XC60 R-Design, but concluded that we'd buy one in a couple years to replace her Peugeot. I might have kids by then (Scary!), so the standard fitted booster seats in the Volvo would make sense then. But it was a great car, very quick and punchy with heaps of torque, amazing comfort, good value, well made, awesome features. Just a really, really impressive car.

When all was said and done, the Infiniti brand fit my profile and my personality. The FX50 was too good of a deal, unrivaled value and I truly love everything about he car.

i really like the look of the new Ford Explorers, but the new body style is still out of my price range. so i bought an 2006 FX35 because my friend has one and i LOVE it! Needed something good in the snow...this crazy, end of the world, PA snowy season!

Was a toss up between the FX and MDX. being a honda/Acura master tech the choice was "get what I know very well". After much deliberation, I choose the FX. (Best friend being a Nissan/Infiniti master helped sway the decision some too). :-)

Toss up between the FX, MDX, grand Cherokee overland. But when I went test driving the FX stood out the most. This is my 4th Nissan and none of them have done me wrong yet

I currently drive a G35 coupe and living in the East coast, traveling from PA to NY very often, I needed a car that's more comfortable, spacious and wouldn't have to worry too much about the potholes in NYC.. Also the weather was a big factor. With all this snow storm we have been having, I need to get an AWD.

Although I don't own an FX right now, but I've looked into BMW X5, BMW 535i X drive, G37xS Sedan, and the Lexus RX. I've set my mind in getting the FX by summer time. The FX has all the goodies and options that other competitors don't even have and the FX mostly comes standard. With infiniti, you get more for your money.

I drive the g35 for almost 8 years now and I know infiniti vehicles are very reliable. So I'm sticking with infiniti and going for a bigger car

Before deciding on my FX I looked at: Acura TL, TSX, Nissan Maxima, Audi A4, and a G35 sedan. But I couldn't get use to a car again after having my Grand Cherokee so I went the FX because of the practicality and space with the sports car feel.

Last year it was my choice and chose the Acura MDX. It's been a wonderful Crossover for the family. My wife and alternate between the FX and MDX

Previously a Mitsubishi Twin Turbo owner, now wanting to have an all-rounder with performance capability. Let's re-cap =)

Infiniti FX35 > BMW E61xi 530i > Subaru Impreza Wagon WRX > Subaru Forester 2.5 XT > Volvo V90 > BMW E91 325xi > Nissan Murano > Infiniti FX35/45!!

I currently have a 2007 Acrua TL w/some slight mods. Nothing crazy though. It is lowered and that's the problem. I absolutely love the car and how it looks and sits right now. But when my wife has to use my car...there seems to a problem w/how low it is. She can't grasp the idea of hitting ramps and what not at angles. And curbs? Oh ya, those too. She likes to hit them. No big deal w/her day to day car the Pilot. But when I'm in the Pilot and she's got my car, it's a disaster. So that's how I find myself here at IS. I've always loved the look of the FX's! And it's a lot higher than my current ride. Yes, I do have coilovers on my TL and could bring it up, but I know I will probably not like the looks as much if I bring it up. And who knows how high is high enough for the wife's driving. LOL :eek.: Anyhow, I love the TL and it's body lines. It sits and drives so well. As for the FX - same thing. It's got a different look, sits higher and is still "luxury" enough for me. Looking forward to getting one soon. Just as soon as I sell the TL. Thanks to you all and the IS forum. It's got plenty of info and I really enjoy reviewing all the content and ride ideas. As I came from acurazine and it's an amazing forum. So much info and activity. Especially w/the 3rd Gen TL area. Wow!
Thanks guys!

+1 on Porsche

I totaled my Jeep Cherokee. Instead of replacing it with a sporty car or something generally engaging I took over driving duties of my wife's Toyota Avalon and got her our FX35. Jeep was faster than both...

I was considering a Toyota 4runner , I drove both cars but the difference for me was like day and night Fx all the way
