What did you do to your FX / QX70 today?

Changed differential and transfer case fluids. Then took it to pep boys for brake pad changed. Unfortunately, my suspicion that my rear caliper driver's side is seized was confirmed. A simple pad change turns to become a $500+ job.

To add further insult to injury, found out my driver side CV joint boot is broken leaking grease and needs replaced soon.

So much for the savings with the DIYs I just had.

what did you use to pump the diff fluid in? I can't find any decent pumps in local part stores. Nothing that can be used easily like in the DIY

Installed roof rack, swapped all bulbs to super white LED (parking lights, fog lights, license plate lights, all interior lights). The LEDs are actually a bit bluer than I'd like, but what are you gonna do at a dollar a piece from China :smug:. Now I just need to find me a good pair of 6000k HID bulbs for a decent price and everything will match!

You can purchase inexpensive and good pumps from Harbor Freight Tools for less than 10 bucks. If you have AWD and needs to replace your transfer case fluid, it is advisable to have 2 pumps to avoid cross contamination between the 2 fluids.

eehh I am from Canada, we don't have that store up here. Cheapest good pump I found was 25$. Diff fluid would be 90$ alone + transfer case fluid plus 2 pumps. It adds up quickly, Canada is expensive

You can get pumps cheaper at Princess Auto Myron.

Sorry, I could not see your geographic location on my phone app. Fleabay is a good resource. Here's a few:

thanks I will take a look at Princess auto. I really don't wanna pay that much for a few pumps that I likely won't have to use again.

thanks, I will have to take a look at the Canadian ebay or amazon, the first one you posted has 18$ shipping changer US$. Total canadian is 45$ haha

Sorry I missed this post. It's a Rola roof rack. Looks great but it's awful. Super noisy. I think universal racks are a no go on these cars because of the body style, they are too disruptive to the air flow over the vehicle and as a result are super noisy. I would suggest you go with factory/oem crossbars since they're designed for the vehicle and a snowboard rack to minimize noise. Mine sat above the factory rails and is a no go. I'm returning it.

Installed my Phillips Ultinon 6000k bulbs (yes real ones, not Chinese knockoffs!) and the output is super white with a slightest hint of blue. Looks so crisp. I'll post pics after a few hours of burn in.

Changed my engine oil and filter this afternoon.

I used the longer K&N HP-1010 instead of the OE spec K&N HP-1008. It has the same diameter and fit as the OE but longer.

I used Royal Purple high mileage synthetic oil.

Washed and waxed her afterwards.

Now the big question. The used oil that came out from the vehicle is about 3/4 or even less of the 5 quart container as marked. Is my vehicle burning oil or this is normal? I did the oil change the last time so I know that I filled up 5 quarts on my last oil change. I used the Royal Purple synthetic the regular version not the high mileage. Any inputs are appreciated.

Wow, something is not right. Do you check your oil level regularly? Losing that much your oil level should have been on the low low side.

I've checked my oil once in a while but never anticipate a problem. I've changed spark plugs at 80k+ miles and all plugs well are dry. Any possible cause of the low oil level?

I drive assertively though if that makes any difference.

Purchased led light ps for the license plate and the reverse lights from retrofitsource. Debating whether to get the led or HID kit for the fog lights.

Here's my setup. I just isntalled 6000k Phillips Ultinon bulbs in the headlights and I've got 6000K LEDs in the fogs. Color match is about 80-90%, it's not exact. May switch to HID in the fogs in the future, but for now I'm gonna leave as is. They aren't as purple in person, rather they are a crisp white with a hint of blue. Light output is noticeably less than 4300K, but not so compromising as to adversely affect night time driving.
