What did you do to your FX / QX70 today?

Changed out the wiper inserts and cleaned the K&N filters.. With 100 degree weather and blowing heat, they dried up fast.

Squashed the mod bug and ordered these a few days ago. I hope they fit! :p

Well, the good news is that I bought three of these and started with the wifey express, which utilizes a single 6" woofer in the side of the trunk. The new woofer fit with very slight modifications (to the frame) and sounds 10x better than the Harmon Kardon paper cone OEM unit.

The bad news is that they don't fit in the OEM FX sub woofer enclosure - at least not without drastic and irreversible modifications to the enclosure. :( Here:s a comparison of the new vs FX Bose woofers:

Not sure what I'm going to do about this. The obvious options are destroying the enclosure to make the new woofers fit, and making a new enclosure similar to the OEM with glass. I'm thinking the latter is more likely but I HATE working with fiberglass. I used to work in a FRP plant and if I never have to smell that shit again I'll die happy. Ugh. Wish I had taken measurements of these drivers in person rather than assuming them from the minimal dimensions given on the website... :(

Wow that is huge size difference. I would modify the oem sub enclosure and keeping eyes on deal of a oem sub in case you wanted swap back. You can always sell the modded one if you ever swap back to oem.

That's true. The sticking point is the mounting flange of the new woofers. At the most narrow point I have 6¼" of space and the flange is 6¾" in diameter. I either need to grind them down quite a bit or cut the top off the enclosure and make a new baffle.
