What did you do to your FX / QX70 today?

Add a plow and you could double your income in the winter months... Thy would be one nice lookin plow....

Rear rotors arrived early yesterday, so I threw them and the new pads on in the afternoon. I did both sides in about 25min while the baby was sleeping - felt like a one man pit crew. :proud:

Thanks guys. I just finished breaking everything in. Everything feels great, no noise, no squeaks, reduced pedal effort, slightly less "spongey" feel in the pedal. Overall a great improvement over my warped oem rotors+carquest pads.
Two surprises: First, the braided lines didn't have as big an effect as I'd expected. Maybe the pads and rotors need a little more time, or maybe there's an air bubble in the system somewhere but my brakes still lack that rock solid feel I was hoping for / expecting. Still a HUGE improvement, but 3% disappointing. I think driving Logan's JBT-equipped Silver Surfer ruined me in the brake feel department...
Second, I forgot about the new rotors burning off the factory coating and subsequently smoking...quite a lot. After one of the first 40-5mph burn in runs I was at a stop sign and straight up panicked when I saw smoke pouring out of the front left fender well. The first thing that entered my mind was that over-posted youtube video of the FX burning to the ground. I jumped out, ran to the front and popped open the hood half expecting to see a burning rag or something. You can imagine my relief when I realized it was the spanking new rotors...

Overall I paid about $700 for the brake upgrade, not including install time, and I'm very happy with it. Like I said above it's not on the same level as a real bbk, but it's a huge improvement over the stock setup. Tres bon.

They required a couple light taps with a mallet to break them loose, but it wasn't bad. I'm sure that varies according to many things. The only things holding the rear rotors on is the caliper and the lug nuts, so if you remove those they *should* slide right off. As far as tips and tricks, just one: Make sure your ebrake is not set or you'll never get them off.

Purchased a new Amsoil air filter to replace my brand new INJEN cone filter......Amsoil unit has more surface area and utilizes an open end internal cone design similar to what the JWT had.
