What did you do to your FX / QX70 today?

Spent a few hours of my Father's Day free time in the garage.

1) Hid my Ipass (tollway payment) in the black part above the rear view mirror (Thanks Aero for letting me know it can go there without any issues, too bad mine still won't stick using the suction cup so I had to use double stick tape).

2) Re-checked my spare wheel to see if it fits the front with 38mm spacer. Handy_Andy tried it on his JBT 6 piston 15" rotor and it is a NO go. So this scared me and I tried it again. I have 1 mm clearance! This is most likely due to being a 14.25 rotor instead of a 15.00" rotor.

3) Tried my 22's on with 38mm spacers for fun. Ha, sticks out the fender.

4) Tightened steering bolt again (1/8 of a turn) and checked for any power steering fluid leaks. No leaks! The bolt just must have been dirty from never being cleaned.

5) Inspected car for best place to mount amp(s).

6) Inspected belt-driven fan. Time for e-fan? Not 100% sold on it, but growing on me.

7) Finally installed Recaro baby seat. Quality exceeds my expectations and will now try to only buy Recaro. Other car seat I am comparing is my Britax.

Great Father's Day so far. Wife and son bought me a steak breakfast, surprised me with a bottle of Glenlivet 18 year, and now getting ready to go to the Cubs game. First Cubs game for my son too.

Ya seriously, out of four people (three Asian) none of us took pics? :confused.:

I had my camera -- sitting on my couch -- totally forgot it.

TransGo!!!, Brembo BBK; long day. Thanks la_fx35 (Handy Andy) and Chedman13 (Ed) for everything.

Sweet -- what a fun day, a lot got accomplished and we had Mapo!!!

Nice one Chris, can't wait to see those mods. Andy, no install meet pictures? Are you slipping?

Chris has his flip cam on while I'm under his FX enjoying the "strawberry fluid of death". I'm sure he'll post it soon. Actually, I came out underneath pretty clean this time.

Got to check a couple things off my list. I decided to clean the plenum, and finally install my iso thermal gasket. Here are some pics. Anyone have an idea why that one cylinder is much dirtier than the others?

Also, found my long 10mm socket that has been missing forever. I just assumed it fell out on a road at some point, but nope, after taking off the lower plenum, there it was!!! I had needed it too...

...

It's the location of the pcv vac line. If it were plumbed into the top/middle of the plenum instead of the intake tract then the gunk would be more evenly distributed. Things being as they are, the angled plenum starves the front cylinders of pcv contaminants as well as air... You need a catch can.
