Checking to see if there are any 45 owners out there craving power. I am going to be ordering up some JWT CAM's (JWT confirmed today that the VK56 CS2 cams will drop right in) and having some high quality SS headers built. Neither of these are inexpensive mods but they will both individually provide 25 untuned smooth NA WHP, up to 35 tuned......

Pricing is TBD but Cams SHOULD come in around $1,200 (a few hundred more for valve springs, possibly lifters) $1,500 installed, headers SHOULD be around 3K+. I am willing to pioneer these items just wanted to see if anyone wants in to drive the cost down.

Tempting Lance, very Tempting! Why oh why, did I have to pop for a stone and now save for a wedding? :eeerr: Timing has never been my strong point. I think the 45 stomp bug is starting to catch on...

Women, sucking up that mod money like nothing else!

Can you change it out for cubic Zirconia? If you do all the power mods to Lola she will be so busy hanging on she won't notice the stone change.

LOL! I'm not 100% on cams, but I'm wondering what you had in mind for headers. I was told that the VK56 headers would fit w/slight modification. Does anyone know if there's any truth to that?

headers are just as much determined by the chassis it sits in as much as the engine it bolts on to, so a set of headers for a titan, while it might bolt up o the head itself, probably won't clear our awd, especially since our tranfer case & front shaft sits on the right where anything with a 5.6 is opposite.

lance, when you say $1,200 for the cams, $1,500 installed, it sounds like the install is only $300 :) I'm guessing you mean $1,200 plus $1,500 install?

+1 the inside of the bay is quite different from the titan config. In the case of the 06+ 45 the passenger side looks to be relatively easy where the steering gear is going to make the driver side install considerably harder.

Correct John, the price of the CAM's is $1,200.00, springs will be around $300.00 (give or take)nand the install is $1,500.00. Man I WISH the install were $300.00...a bit more work than that tho' =) I will order them by mid week next week if anyone else is in.....

Buy the cams and just wait it out =) It's going to take a few weeks to find the right install shop anyway......just imagine it, maybe a little lope, power across the entire range.....

The dollar per whp on this platform is just UGLY. $4500 for 25whp = $180 per whp. In the meantime guys are building ghetto low-buck catch cans instead of ponying up $385 for a real AOS. On a $50k vehicle it is peanuts. And then the willingness to spend this kind of $ for such little power.

In for results.

Seems like the forumula for power over basic bolt ons has always been approx. 1k per 10whp..... the cams are 3k for 25 untuned, 30-35 tuned. The headers will be more...That fits to plan for me but to each his own. I'll be buying the CAM's next week and installing hopefully within three. Since I'm tuned I'll head in for a quick touch up and post the results.

Oh I'm sorry, please tell me how to mod my car.

Hah, Ari should drive an FX. Yeah, for the amount of money drivers dump into just about anything on their cars kind of interesting to hear a one sided opinion on a singular aspect. Thread could just as easily could be about wheels, body mods, stereo gear, FI work.....

Oh I'm sorry, please tell me how to mod my car.

That's your call. I just got opinions and decades of modding experience in all sorts of cars. The dollar per whp for aftermarket upgrades for the FX45 is extremely high. If you disagree, fine, but it tells me you haven't done much modding other than the FX45.

Gentleman, everyone here on iS has a right to their opinions and you have to respect that, lets not get into who's opinion in right or wrong. Everyone's past experience in modding their vehicles can be extremely helpful to others so any information shared is appreciated. Lets keep to the OP's topic.

I am excited and very impressed your taking this leap Lance! I believe these mods will be Spectacular with a tune and you will have one mean SOB.

Actually I've done infinite amount of modding on other vehicles compared to the 45. :dontknow:

It tells me you lack reading comprehension.

Lance has the before dyno, so he is good to go. As I"m sure he'll get a new dyno tune after all his new mods.

The Silver Surfer will be the ultimate daily driver. Reliable enough to haul the kids around and fast enough for the solo drives.
