VK45 –Stage 1 Headers/JWT cams/TB/intake

Dropped FX off for tuner to make the magic happen. I had asked him to double check the fuse to make sure he was comfortable pulling it, when I got there he said yeah, no worries and flipped the screen around to show me the details. What did he show me? The iS thread on the AWD fuse, hah! made me laugh, iS is that good.

So it's in. Have been super busy and no time to collect parts, was pissed I forgot the bored Tb as he said he could tune it in.

Tune was partially successful, what was achieved was very positive. Idle is now perfect, no oscillation, no lunge in drive when idling. Maps have been adjusted across the board but fine tuning was stopped when the overflow for the tranny began pumping fluid. After all the dissamblies the tranny wasn't topped off. I did it later but added too much (rookie mistake). My runs have not been as agrgesive as a dyno run process and it pumped some out and the tuner stopped immediately. Not too bad as I'll be able bring my TB now and have it tuned in.

Total 1.5 hours today. Rough numbers are in but not impressive - yet. Best pull was 280/305. Dyno setup is very unforgiving but after today I again felt a difference in power and the mid range is even better. So far I'm happy with the results, especially now that its all smoothed out again.

Additionally the race car sound is making me itch to be honest. It's exotic and cool but I wish it were a few DB's less. As it is my DD I have to take customers out for meals and such, kind of makes a less than professional statement.

Been there... Maybe try those resonated tips H_A had on his 35? Or one of those dynomax valve mufflers, but it might change the tone instead of just the volume. Is it just the overall volume?

Really glad to hear that you are getting everything fine tuned now. A video on the Dyno would be cool.

Glad to hear the positive news on Silver.
Thank you Mr. La! Hey did ghe tips quiet the exhaust noticeably?

^^ So does this mean that there is further expert testimony that it is safe to pull the AWD fuse?
Absolutely, when you can run it Dyno hard I would assume its bullet proof.

Mainly volume, tone is awesome but loudness ouweighs the awesomeness.

Still have to go back, if I can do it I'll ask one of the guys to shoot me a clip.

The exhaust tip change is almost not noticeable. I put the same resonated tips that I had on my 35 onto the 45 too. I really can't tell if they change the tone. If any, it not noticeable to my ears. Since it mainly volume that you wants to dial down, may have to add inline resonator, but at the same time it may change the tone too.

Very good news Lance. Whenever you need a meeting vehicle let me know. I'd gladly swap for the 'Burb. Doesn't get any more professional than that.... Even has a little table so all your colleagues can have lunch as you drive and amaze them with your latest inventions.

Sound is amazing to be sure, just a bit loud for my taste. It sounds tubular/throaty in the low RPM's and then opens up all crazy style.

The ride is solid with more smooth power through the RPM's and it launches really well.......

I am thinking with my TB and the completed tune I'll hit 300 WHP and a bit more torque. Honestly I can say I am very happy as it sits, the extra power will be icing on the cake. The first tunes were poorly done, now that its better dialed in and most of the power is there it's more fun and functional.

Ride is off I think my front Alignment is hosed and one of the front dampeners may out.

Hey Lance,

With the extra power did you upgrade any of the bushings to Polyurethane especially the motor mount? Reason, why I asked is because my driver motor mount failed and from reading its pretty common.

Interesting. No I didn't upgrade/change out the mounts. Is their an average mileage number they tend to fail at? What was the sound feeling when your mount failed?

Like a grinding noise when accelerating from a stop or turns. I have about 117k on the FX. The driver side is common from what have read. I couldn't believe how small the motor mount looked. I would think it would be bigger.

Nice numbers, Lance! I bet that sound is amazing!

I'm not sure if they're different because of the platforms, but I'm at 135K and the mounts still look great!

Nothing like that at least not yet. Just guessing but it seems it would take a bit more than what I am currently running to crush a mount that's still fairly new?
