turbocad's custom fx

Wow that really does suck John. I guess they tried to pass along a screwed up set to you or some actually messed up your wheel order.

3 strikes, maybe you should just return the wheels. It seems that you are less than 100% satisfied with this wheel. You have the proof that they screwed up. Either way I hope it works out for you. Makes me wonder about black wheels, if somebody like IForged is trying to pull a scam:tdown:....makes me go hmmmm.

john, you and i should go pay a visit to the New York Iforged hq
This situation is rediculous. I know how you strive for perfection or close to it, and I know that something like this occuring would be rediculously frustrating. i wouldn't even ask for the rear wheels, I'de just return the entire set. but it's your money so you do what you think is right. they screwed up too many times (it should be ZERO times). What probablyhappened was they already had 2 wheels with those exact spec, with a chrome lip, so they just made 2 others then painted them all. the lazy way out. i would be fuming.

I'd agree on this BUT he waited like 3 months just to get these custom ordered on this size.. It'd suck to wait another 3 months or settle for a size that he didn't want/plan..

Uh, that sucks azz :err:, and unacceptable from a reputable company . They have to correct their mistake. I'm curious to see how this plays out...

yeah, try over 4 months waiting on these, as the friggin dealer I ordered from held my deposit over a month before he even submitted the initial order to iforged :err:

right now I have no choice, I HAVE to run a custom wheelset just for my tires to even be usable on the fx, $1,500 worth of rubber alone... to start over now from scratch would be a real horror show, I don't want my summer wheels by the end of the summer, what good is that? I ordered these things in november...

when IForged opens I'll call them & see what they have to say about this... hopefully there customer service is not another big jerk around session... I'm not asking for too much, just give me a set of matching wheels is all I ask...

also, through google I learned something new to me... these may actually be powdercoated afterall, as paint remover does attack powdercoat same as it does paint, so the fact that they strip with paint remover is not an indication that there not powdercoated, but still, powdercoat over shiny unprepped chrome?

"powdercoat over shiny unprepped chrome?"...wrong offset for brake clearance, etc. I understand, sometimes you are willing to do whatever will get you the desired result, but in this case the money you paid for customed wheels is suppose to eliminate that. I don't know how the process works, but Im sure if it meant losing business these guys could get those wheels back to you "rush". Good luck.

I dunno for sure but I was told that the vendor is key part in your order getting done right. When I ordered mine I contacted the owner and told him what I wanted. He directed me to a vendor he trusted. Rookie kind of went thru some mishaps with his iforged wheels.

yeah, maybe he could have miscommunicated my desire for full black in & out, & maybe he could have even screwed up the brakes part of it, but I can't see how the vendor has anything to do with them finishing over glossy unprepped chrome... that's 100% all IForged & IForged alone, which is why I'm going past my vendor & directly to IForged... the vendor had his faults too & has proven to be a liar on several occations, but the real biggest problem here can't even be his fault...

I called them, explained my situation, customer service rep agreed that I shouldn't have to deal with this, going to talk to his supervisor & get back to me... still hanging over 4 hours later... I also sent IForged a seperate email with pictures & details right now, now just wait & see....

dave, what are you talking about, spacers? where?

Hopefully, iforged will rectify this to your satisfaction. Its a shame you have to go through all this John.

+1, out of everyone's order to mess up, they messed up yours, the perfectionist on the forum :frown:

if they really dont budge, maybe you can make a new thread on your 'iForged horror story," link it to a couple other sites and then show them that your serious with them getting it right. I remember some dealer messed up someone's car, and after the dude showed the dealer the threads online, the dealer investigated and tried to mitigate the situation

maybe I'm strange, but I'm not a huge fan of the totally flush wheels look, I like slightly less than flush, slightly tucked where even if I ever stuck 5 big people in it & a bunch of heavy stuff in the back , or loaded it up with cinderblocks & cement at home depot, my wheels aren't going to contact the body, there going to go into the wheel well, which is what the wheelwell is for. car should stop on the bump stops not the tires, tires should not be able to contact the body to me, just don't look correct to me. to me wheels that are completely flush are sticking out too far, both visually & mechanically. I think it should look like if you could drop it all the way down, the outer body of the car is not going to rest on the tire tread, instead they will clear the tire slightly, enough for the wheel to recess into the body, even if it's razor close, but enough to tuck... that's just what looks right to me & that's about how I speced these.

these are 11" wide rims... tires are 315/30-22's . if your willing to accept flush I could probably fit up to a 12" wide rim on the stock body, that would be if I could find a wider tire, but this is the widest tire that I can find that has a matching appropriate front tire that can work with staggered awd. also didn't want a stretched or buldged tire, in a 30 series tire best to go with a rim that'll keep it square, 11" was exactly in the middle of the rim range for the tire, 10.5-11.5" are the specs for the tire, front same thing, 9.5" rim is square tire, no buldge or stretch, center of the range. front tire is 265/35-22... could have easily fit an 11.5" rear, 10" front, but that would have stretched the tires a bit...

IForged is sending me 2 rear chrome lips... should have them by next tuesday, I should be able to have these on the car by end of next week finished...

even with all the headaches, this might actually be a blessing in disguise, as I really should have ordered chrome lips to begin with, thinking about it, if this hadn't happpened I would not have been able to even have chrome lips at all at this point without spending $$$ more & having to send them out for chrome, which I probably wouldn't have done. maybe instead of this being a bad thing, maybe in all reality I got lucky in the end here, I mean what are the chances of not liking a custom black finish that was special ordered, & then stripping it to find what I actually prefered? maybe it's just karma.

I sware, I really feel like I have been so very lucky with my fx from day one, from the way I got the fx really cheap, to the way everything just winds up falling into place with any mod I attempt, just lucky... have I mentioned lately how much I love my FX

oh & dave, as far as the flush wheel thing, don't mean to say that I don't like the look of all the fx's that have flush wheels, they do look beautiful & very agressive, I don't look at them & think I don't like them, but I still prefer the slightly tuckable look personally for my own car... if the wheels are out slightly more than flush, then that's when it starts to look like to much to me. hopefully the 11" rubber out back is enough to make mine look agressive even without a completely flush wheel...

I agree with you being tucked just so slightly. It looks great. Again, just the angle that made it appear more than it really is
