turbocad's custom fx

alright, sorry to keep bumping this up, but just wanted to put up a few shots of the slr.

I had to do some repairing & paint work on one of the fenders, the color of this mclaren is only for the slr, mercedes doesn't use the same black as there other cars on this car. as I'm doing this car I realized something, the color of this car is pretty much identical to the color I winded up making for my fx... it has a ton of pearls in it just like mine & it's so close that I could interchange this paint with mine & you wouldn't be able to even tell, it's that close:smile:

& the back. the rear of this car is sexy to me, it really has a nice look & I can see a lot of this design working well on my fx... I love the tailights with the insert that lights up for amber turn... I did already come up with a custom tailight design that I was going to do with the round circles, but I think I like this even more...

the rear diffuser look is something that I've been playing with for my fx for a while now, I fell in love with that look when I had the gt in my shop... originally I was really liking the carrera gt rear reflectors for the fx, was a nice compliment to the round I was planning in my tails, but look at these reflectors in the bumper... I could see that working on the fx too... especially with similar tailights to the slr... this car has given me a lot of ideas... I guess I take a lot of my ideas from cars that I see on the road... I actually study cars on the road & look at atributes that can be used in customization, but I don't normally get to see something like this car... glad it made it's way into my shop:tongue:

& me backing it out to ah... just "feel it":6wink: I like this car, think it has become my new "favorite" car.. always figured if hit the lotto big I would get a lambo, but now.. maybe one of these instead  I like it cause it's as low key & subtle as a supercar could get... if you didn't know better it doesn't look as exotic as it is... it doesn't screem at you like most supercars would.... I realy like it

I think that's the first time we saw your face John  As for the rear reflectors.. Don't they have similar rear reflectors on the 09? Or is it the shape of the bumper w/ the reflectors you're talking about?

the whole shape & the fact that it has reverse lights in it too... I don't want reverse lights in the tails, def want the inner & outer to illuminate togeather on the fx... I like the swooping design & then how it connects the swoops to the sides too... guess I haven't paid a lot of attention to the 09fx's rear reflectors though tbh...

Such a nice car.
We have one that parks in the tanning lot every so often.
The windshield slope reminds me of the 'ol DeLorean.

Nice "twins" you have there, turbo!

I'm sure after backing her out of the shop you had to "get a feel" for some of the forward gears too, huh?

hey merchant, I thought you wanted to cut holes & put mesh... never figured that was what you were really talking about though

baker, I wish you could come pick it up... I wish SOMEONE would come pick it up... it's just sitting here now & I can't get rid of it... sucks having a car like this laying around... I'm like watching it all day sitting on the corner just hoping no one hits it now... cars been done since Monday but the friggin dealer keeps putting off the pickup... they better get it out of here tomorrow:mad:

I really couldn't feel much in this car, whenever I try to punch it it just stumbles & don't go anywhere really, feels like it's cutting fuel... think it's in some sort of valet mode or something... great idea for a car like this anyway really... I like that idea... my utec has a valet mode that I haven't played with yet but that's gotta be a great idea if you ever have to leave a car with anyone...

Yeah, I have to agree with Bert on this one. Most shops I have been to have all had poor lighting. Good job on the shop Turbo.

Turbocad,

I even was thinking (not actually:wink:) of buying this and making it look similar.

But , you are correct, I was also thinking of the cutting the space between and adding a mesh to let air pass through. But Im not "the resident butcher" ... and dont want it to look cheesy:crossedlips:

haha, I wish I had that car here sitting on the corner when the dealer comes to pick theres up.... "I TOLD you you shoulda picked up dude:mad:..." that would be so funny... then again, maybe not:err:

that car don't look bad at all... the wheels are still straight & it don't look smashed, just cracked up a bit, don't even see much frontal penetration even... I'm sure you'd have to sell a few fx's just to buy the parts for that car though... if that was a vette it's be maybe 25k in damage... on this car would be over $100k though... don't look totaled at all I think... I've fixed much worse than that, but not in carbon fiber though

as far as those vents merchant, I see where your thoughts are there... I think it would just look like you stuck them on there though... I've been searching around for a while now looking for rear deflectors in this style but haven't found the right thing yet, except for carbon fiber full replacements for the carrera GT at like $5,500 or so... I don't want fiberglass bumpers but the rear diffuser may not be so bad in fiberglass... won't get bumped while parked really... if I do something like this I may have to do fiberglass on that piece if I can't find anything really...
