Ray's Boost

Damn, Ray...hope it all gets sorted out soon.

Me too buddy. just drove a bit but it does not feel good yet. need to reset all errors first and a tune bad cause A/F readings are everywhere andp cannot keep it at idle right now. hmmmm

Sucks Ray, I feel your pain. I bet the % of completely new builds that run perfectly out of the gate are pretty low, not that it makes it any easier to think about dialing in your new ride. Be systematic, find every issue man, sounds like you have a solid support team though =)

Ok as my knowledge is somewhat limited here and there with projects like these i am somewhat nervous and hearing- feeling maybe way more then i should.....seeing ghosts.
Called my friends from the tuning shop and they put me somewhat at eas telling me that the tune is way to rich so the engine therefore drowns in fuel. This weekend the guy from the 350Z comes along also having a Halltech ECU and is able to adjust the A/F for me. We tuned it more rich the last time but it needs less and less fuel the more it breaks in so need to adjust that along with it.
Will put it on a truck toworths the Tuner as it is approx 80 miles to that adres and with the A/F not being 100% certain i find that too much of a risk.

Washed the car for the first time yesterday evening and a layor of dust/dirt came of the freshly painted car. But man o man that color grows on me by the day, especially in the outside daylight. Yeah i know.....more pics soon :smug:

update:

Ok it has been a while....had a lot of pointers to get rid off. As i mentioned before what started out as a engine project quickly became a fully paint project (and more ) as well. So lot of things to take care of.
So where am i now. Got a base tune and am breaking it in right now. It is not a daily driver for me and have been on holiday and busy so am half way right now on that. revs are limited to 5500 but i am told better not to override the 3500 revs for now. Boost pressure is at 0.6 Bar ( aproxx 9 Psi ).
Car runs great, engine sounds a bit rough, i think i was better of not going for the Heavier cam springs. This really stresses my timing chain out and it's tensioners. Especially when i start the engine cold.
But then again i gues with a complete build engine it would not run so smooth as a stock engine anyways.

One mayor setback is that my rear seal wasn't mounted right ( my own doing ) and the tensioner spring in it popped out and damaged my cranck. We put a new seal in it but without any luck and i have a oil leak just behind that seal wich spills oil in the bell housing of my tranny.
i Can drive with it for now but at one point the cranck needs to come out and taken care of.......weld or just put another one in.

I'm now tackling the P0102 code wich says MAF or TB so working on that.

The bodywork is 98% done....fitted the side skirts last week and am waiting for some clamps of the lower door moldings.
Also had some issues with the oil temp being to high for my tuners liking. It was located a little bit to much behind the bumper so we made some air scoops to guide the air towards the oilcooler. These B&M oilcoolers have a build in thermostate and their on SPAL fan if they become to warm.
Problem was that the oilcooler was directly in front of my inner wheelwel and therefore couldn't breath through very well.
My buddy who works at a painter repairs infiniti's as well and got a FX50 inner wel for me with air fins in them, cut them out and plastic welded them into my new wheel wel.

The interior pic shows the only gauge i have ( Wideband ) mounted into a Perrin Performance pod, left to it is one of the 2.5" LCD screem i use and has all the data on it from the HKS Camp 2 system and below the Blitz Throtthle Controller.....pitty that is the only thing with a green light so might have to change that in time.....still have plenty of LED's lying around here :smile (2):

Times for some pics:

Color looks Great! All this hard work is going to pay off, Ray. When are you bringing her over here for the USA Tour?

No actually i don't.....i do have some stickers lying around somewhere. But their old too so don't know how the quality is.
So moderator......i keep myself available for merchadise to support the :iS: in europe :smile (2): who helps me out...??

Ok mayor setback here. Wanted to flush the engine oil one more time before the final oil and tune would have gone in. Last time i lett my collegues change the rear main seal they mentioned there was quite some metal in the oil. But that was the first flush so i figured that that was normal. Now with the second flush it was even more. So somethings wrong....but i don't know what. Checked the cams and they already start to wear in. So engine is already out and will be delivered at the engine builder tommorow to see what happened. One of the many gueses would be the bearings might have been to thight in clearance. Used oem specs but with the acl's and higher power a bit more clearance would have been prefered. But thats just guessing right now 9107e01f-4b18-33d1.jpg9107e014-4b31-4641.jpg9107e00d-4b40-4f99.jpg

So many moving parts on an all new build. I'm sure your team will track down the source just sucks you have to wait this out though.....where do we send the "get well soon" cards to?

are there any videos of this beast in motion!?

Unfortunatly only nice vid i have is with the "old" oem engine setup in, not with the new one yet. Haven't came to that yet and now wonder when i will.......

Sorry to hear, Ray...hope this gets cleared up soon.

Thank buddy for your continous support...!! Will hit NYC next week but unfortunatly are not able to stop by John's in the weekend......maybe on wednesday afternoon i'll make a quick pitstop if i have the time....

Haha i'll lett you know when i know the total damage.....so we know if it would be a get well soon card......or condolence card....!!

Dam man. What metal in the oil? copper shavings or something else?

Couldn't really get my finger on it. But at a certain point we thought we saw some copper. What are you thinking of...?? Hellicoils...?? Did had a fuel odor in the oil as well, not too much but smelled it anyway.......

Copper would be bearing, I had small slivers in the oil when I spun a bearing a long time ago.
