Read from the Nov. 23rd post down. These head units are finally being made for the 1st gen FX and I gotta get one, just not sure which one and how to go about it yet because it's a dash issue as well for me.:(:poop:

I did. My original post in this thread quoted your 11-23 post. lol

So where can I get more info about these units?

I thought that site was dead, the one from the 2nd link you posted. There's better info there than here. Thanks for that K.

Hey K, if you're willing could you ask javy627 for some more pics of the Tesla unit and the dash? I'm not signed up over there.

Sure thing otm. Not sure they will reply though. I quoted their post with a question a couple of weeks ago, but they never replied. User info shows they only have posted 2 times in that forum. nevertheless i did ask.. let's hope they see and reply.

I think the site got an uptick in interest and users after a facelift a while back.

I'll prolly get this one from this seller. Like the guy says in the vid, one manufacturer with multiple sellers. I just bought a coverlay dash cover. Not too excited about it but shops want to do the whole interior, not just the dash, so it'll do the trick at least for now. I'm seeing cracks coming down the sides of the passenger side airbag area now.

Got the Coverlay dash cover in. Yuck. What a pos. Sorry to those who have and like it. The thing doesn't even line up well. I asked for my $ back and told'em I'm not fit'n on pay'n no damn shipping to send this piece back. Guess what. They didn't want to pay either. They said go ahead and snap that bitch in half then toss it and take a few pic's to prove you did, and so I did. That's messed up. $400 for something that's apparently not worth the shipping cost to the maker.:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl: The Taupe grey was a pretty damn good match for my color interior though.
I'm talking to 2 different interior shops now. Gonna get who knows what done + the dash, the Android radio & some speakers.

Sorry to hear your dash cover didn't work out.

My dash is pretty badly cracked but fortunately has no bubbling. Do you think it would be worth going to a vinyl shop to see if they can wrap it while it's still mounted in the car? because short of that I kinda don't think (in my case at least) it's worth trying to fix.

Beautiful and nasty car by the way. I'm thoroughly enjoying reading through your thread.

Your dash is cracked to then? Huh. You must have an early 03 like me. the G's crack but most FX's bubble. Weird.
Yeah, I think that's the way to go at this point. If you can find a dash at the dealer in your color, IF, swell, but it'll run ya $2200 + not including installation. Then the question will be when is this piece gonna crack or bubble up. These shops are talking about pulling the dash and working on it OR pulling the windshield and working on the dash while it's in the car. One place prefers UV resistant vinyl on top of new foam after all the old mess is removed and the other will do that or stitch on leather but supposedly leather can/will/might/could/probably shrink. I'm probably going to do some other stuff so I'm not sure how things will pan out yet but I'll post what they do and what it cost to do whateverthehell they do to the dash fyi.

My dash has just been done, just couldn’t look at it anymore, was really BAD. They removed the dash, sanded it down, glued down a stitched leather look vinyl and built it back in, also did the speaker grills in alcantara. Haven’t seen it yet(pick up tomorrow), but have seen other FX,s he’s done, looks very nice, especially with the stitching. He claims to have done over 100 FX dash’s from all over Europe(don’t know if that’s true?), claims his glue can handle up to 120 Celsius and gives 2y guarantee, claims he has the dash out in 1 hour, cost me 970$. Not much use to you I guess in the “sweaty south”, just wanted to chime in, will post pics after pickup, good luck which ever way you go!

Hey @onthemove your FX is so badass. That's a shame your Coverlay piece didn't fit well. I put a black one in my car today and while it's definitely not perfect, I thought the fitment on mine was good enough. I was planning on test fitting it first, and then gluing it on, but it was such a PITA to install I just left it without the glue. I might glue it one day to bring those edges down.

The cover looks good on your dash. It looks like it works out better with black.

I bought the 10 inch tesla screen for 700.
I cannot figure out how to get AC controls on new head unit. I also have no Audio but everything seems to be super cool. I'm just scratching my head for like 3 days though haha. I might just go to a shop now :(

Na, I wouldn't do that just yet unless you've already dug around and found others that had the same problem, tried what they did and still failed. There is a fix for this but it eludes me right now. Look it up. You may have to go outside the realm of FX's.
