did you apply the AIO and sealant glaze by hand? very curious as to how you managed to get it so shiny. What prep work did you do? She looks awesome!

thanks. i do everything by hand, but im thinking of using tools soon. i just do basic wash, then aio, then glaze before. but now i use a no rinse wash product mixed with aio at times and do spot cleaning with aio and water mix. i think my last full wash was in 2008. she is shiny all the time as long as you dont look close enough to see scratches all over.

yeah, mine is the same way. Looks great after a good wash and wax, as long as you aren't close enough to see the [pretty bad] swirls and surface scratches. Guess I'll have to break out the AIO and glaze next time. Haven't used it in years...

spring, gray, "sport" seat

here are a few recent updates.

h&r springs. i guess the 03 nonsport is firm to begin with since i barely notice any additional firmness. it does ride better. only this pic for now, newly installed:

gray wood trim. i finally did it to cover the aluminum marks and scratches esp on the shifter area. a little reference on before and after:

closer shot:

the middle section is a little hard to install due to lining up a lot of holes for the shifter and the buttons. the tray pieces needed a little gap otherwise it wont open with the trim installed. i like it overall. the interior looks a little updated. the only thing was that i requested a replacement on the middle section trim since it was off.

last, family mod. recaro seat :

Under no circumstances should you place the child seat in the center. Definitely read the seat manual and follow mfg instructions or the safety benefit of the seat is gone. Child seat should always be behind the driver or passenger seats.

thanks for the concern. you got me checking and according to the site, the safest placement is the rear center as i learned before. consistent with other recommendations too.

The reason that MOST child carrier seat manuals specifically forbid that kind of installation is not because it's in the middle, it's due to the LATCH system and the fact that it is designed with an 11" spacing between anchor points. The FX doesn't have a center LATCH position, so by installing the seat in the center position you are using the inner anchor points from each of the two side positions. Using the inner attachment points has two flaws:
First, in the event of an accident force would be applied to the anchor points in different directions than they were designed for, significantly reducing their load bearing capacity. For an example, try pulling a pencil in half. Now try bending it in half.
Second, the seat itself is designed the same way; To resist force in a very specific direction.

Almost every modern child safety seat utilizes the LATCH points, and for good reason. Because it is far superior to the system it replaced (seat belts alone). For the same reason, every modern car now comes equipped with LATCH points. If your child seat doesn't utilize them, I'd get a new seat. If you are using the LATCH system in the center position, stop. It's very dangerous.

EDIT: Your seat does utilize the LATCH system....
DOUBLE EDIT: I couldn't find the actual installation instructions. It has the capability of using the LATCH points for sure, but I don't know if it's required by Recaro. I do know that the FX does not suggest mounting a car seat in the middle if you do use the LATCH points.

i understand that if using the latch system (i.e. no center position on the fx), but this is a booster. i did end up placing it on the side most of the times on quick trips.

i thought this thread disappeared for no reason, but i guess it got merged.

mods, can i request to change the title since i have more than the klasse vlr? if its ok, please change it to My 03 FX35 Klasse Edition.

BTW, the Klasse application looks incredible!

thanks. not bad for a nearly 7 year old and no full wash in 2009 . i do have to take care of swirls soon (i hope). the klasse aio/gloss can hide some of them. might invest in rop or have it done by pros.

p.s. thanks also for the title change.

i thought ill be posting some pics with new shoes, but end up with nothing.

the redrilled wheels wont fit properly. the tire shop did 2 lug nuts and showed me that the rest of the bolts are not centered on the slugs or the inserts. the inserts should be dead centered to the bolts for proper fitting?

im going back to the shop that redrilled and was offered to mount the new setup for me. hope it works this time.

something to think about for those about to redrill...
