Move over JLC! I got my own crees!

I was waiting for these for so long now....
so bad that even wanted to order the failing crees just to have them on for couple days...lol
let's get the GB started i am in thank you for your effort

Art is testing the tower type in the OEM DTRL location behind the rectangular diffuser. Here is a pic what Aero was talking about.

Aero, I totally agree with you. Although I don't have the dtrl-signal swap, even when I threw the cree-types into my dtrl housings, I had the same effect. The supplier actually gave me two options, a spot lens and a wide-angle lens - don't ask me why I went with the spot...

Just sent an email preparing the supplier for a GB, need to make sure everything is in order over there. Also requested silver/chrome finishes for the crees instead of the black. Give me 24-48hrs and I should get everything in order for a GB.
 
Got confirmation from supplier that they can do silver-housed bulbs w/ flood lenses. Will disperse more light and "appear" bigger from a distance. And just to reconfirm, we're talking about the crees here. As far as I can tell, the Tower bulbs don't need any kind of modifications.

Art, good visual. Yup we definitely want silver housing with wide/flood lens. Yes this all about the crees type.

Good stuff will do. Andy, with your blessing of course as my loyal test subject, I'd like to start putting the GB together.
However before I do that I'd like your (and the boards) input on a few things, specifically regarding the changes to be made to the design.

The tweaks we'd need to make for the crees are:
1. Base in silver instead of black
2. Use the flood (wide-angle) lens (or allow buyer to choose between spot/flood?)

Towers are good? No changes you can think of?
Have you noticed any flickering or anything abnormal with the bulbs thus far?
 
Yes - Silver housing, wide angle. Suspect you won't see a buying group for the spots as you want the bulb/housing to emulate another headlight.

RE: the tower, will it be available in both clear and amber?
 
The black casing reflects in the silver housing as a dark spot or shadow when the light is off. The silver will disappear against the silver housing when the light is on or off.

1) Housing in silver.
2) Flood projector lens

Towers are good is good since you been testing them. No flickering or any changes for two weeks thus far.
