Move over JLC! I got my own crees!

Look Xmas in October for me. Art sent me these bulbs to test since he didn't have time to do the DTRL-Signal swap mod.

Note: These towers WILL NOT fit into the outer round housing where the turn signal use to be if you did the DRTL-Turn Signal mod. These tower is too long.

These are currently in my head lights.IMG_6871s.jpg

I have them on for about 45 minutes on way to work this morning. They are 95% match my DDM 6000K heads and fogs.

So, on the first two pic they are not the same bulbs? What do you have in the round housing if it doesn't fit?

I'm assuming you have it hangin loses in the housing. If so, question will be to shorten the bulb and the effects if any by doing so?

I figured Andy would be able to put these things through their paces better than anyone. I have the crees in my stock dtrl sockets for 8 days and counting with no issues. We'll see how they hold up in the signal housings.. fingers crossed.
The way I see it, the towers should be for those looking to maintain the stock location of the DTRLs as they provide the best light dispersion within the housing. The crees are for those looking to do the dtrl / turn-signal swap.

FYI, already spoke to the manufacturer. They can custom fab amber towers for those looking to really kick it up a notch. Crees in the signal housing, and amber towers in the dtrl housing.

Amazingly my jlc bulbs still work. But once they stop chart up a pair for me too.

No Chris, I'm using the Crees bulbs (black ones) in the round signal housing.

Andy C - Much loved test mule for iS :wink (2):

I'm sure Andy will corroborate this as well, but they actually feel great too. I've been through my fair share of chinese led bulbs of different sizes/configurations/specs and I'll tell you, these ones feel solid - they have some serious weight to them.

Nice work Art, they Crees are much more heavy in hand then the JLC Crees. They're much better build then the JLCYeah, I'm totally agree the tower will be good for those have the DTRL in the stock location. I was wondering if the Crees can be painted silver instead of black. I think it should look a little better. If not it is fine in black.

I like the thought of the amber towers in the DTRL position as a turn signal bulb. I also like your idea of the CREE in silver, black is two heavy in the silver signal casing.

Will get in touch with my peeps. Based on their exhibited flexibility thus far - I'm sure I can get a silver (and maybe ask for something polished too.. chrome?).

Lookin' really good. Hoping this works out well! Probably need a solid few weeks of long term testing. I had the original crees (before the group buy) and those lasted a very long time before they started to flicker.

Updates: I have been driving with these Cree bulbs that Art have sent me to test for a little over a week now. They're on for about 45 minutes each time. No melting or flickering. Still running fine.

Always glad to hear good news on a Monday afternoon.

btw, I've had my crees for 2 weeks (in the dtrl housings) with no issues to report either.

Just an update, the crees completed a great trial run in my dtrl housings (over 3 weeks) and don't forget that I'm in Canada so they're on all the time. I've since switched back to the towers, still no problems to report.
I'm confident in the quality of these lights and am willing to get the GB started. I just need Andy to chime in and report his results as he's been running them in his turn signal housings. Want to make sure they work in both locations for extended periods of time.

Andy, where you at?!

Art, when you look at the crees directly from the front, do they look like a dot to you or are they full blown projector? I saw Andrew's crees over the weekend and the ones you gave him looked like dots from a distance. They looked cool because he has angel eyes because they look like a little target bulls-eye. But for those who don't have AEs, I don't think it will look good. My original crees looked like a full blown projector when they were on.
