KIDO COILOVER STRUT BROKEN-Chedman please advise

wow, thats wild.. hopefully like all these guys said is an isolated incident and kido resolves the matter promptly.. i dont want my hopes of ordering some kidos for mine to change... btw sorry for not being on here as often, work and new responsibilities but thats on a whole new subject

Slightly off topic -- but one reason people love IS and the people they meet here is because we have a high level of respect for each other. If I'm off the mark, I'm a mod for the wrong forum.

Insinuating comments doesn't help anyone. Constructive criticism does help. Positive feedback does help.

Let's all take a step back, take a deep breath and look at what the issue is here.

A rear damper broke. Desilvafx35 needs it fixed. KIDO needs to handle this and I have confirmation they will -- they just need photos and a complete description what happened for their engineers and warranty department.

I'm glad Desilvafx35 posted this so people are aware if this is indeed an issue or not.

PS Desilvafx35 never pointed a finger at me, he knows I can help get this resolved, which is why he reached out to me.

curiosity, did this pothole (i assume) damage anything else? rims? bubbles on the tires? ... living in jersey and frequently hitting up nyc i can tell u this things can swallow a car whole... well, im sure turbo will find out and let us know

It could be an isolated incident. We have a few of us in Chicago that have these which Handy_Andy installed. One of us lives in Chicago and hits pot-holes every day. There are also speed bumps the size of mountains in Chicago.

Andy even took my car on a tough test drive to see if there was no rub at the height and took it flying over railroad tracks at 45mph+. None of us have any broken parts. If people have seen Andy drive, he does not take it easy=)

Desilvafx35 - can you give as complete of a description as you can remember what happened, any pictures of the fix Turbo did, while we wait for Turbo to post? Turbo is a busy guy like the rest of us so not trying to put any pressure on you.

Ed is correct, I am in NO WAY blaming Ed for this. Ed is my point of contact as he kindly put together the Group Buy. I am waiting on TURBOCAD to post the pics he took of the broken right Rear damper. To put everyone straight, I did NOT hit a pot hole. NO damage to the tire or Rim. NO damage any off the Wheel arch. No damage to Springs. I was driving normally on a normal smooth road with 2 other people in the car when this happened. It just happened I cannot explain how or Why.

i believe you on the pot hole ordeal.. theyre pretty nasty and can cause some serious damage.. heck, ive seen it myself in my tech days

Andy, living on the edge huh? flying cars over railroad tracks fast & furious style... love it loll

TURBO MENTIONED TO ME THAT A SOLUTION WOULD BE TO WELD THE BOTTOM SECTION CICLE MOUNT TO THE DAMPER. HE WILL HAVE THE RIDE FROM TOMORROW SO THE REPAIR PROCESS CAN BEGIN.

It does look like a pressed/glued connection...

Looks like everything threads on, but if you don't put the smaller piece on the left in first you might not thread it all the way.

The threads on the middle piece is divided into two section. The thread for the left piece and a section for the dampener (the right piece). So with that said, the dampener will never touches the top of the left piece because there is a gap on the inside of the middle piece not threaded.

So because this is screwed on, the bottom piece broke off (far left of Andy's photo). The solution is the weld it onto the middle section in Andy's photo?

Ed will get this fixed for ya..no doubt. But how are we 8 pages in, and we still don't have one pic of the damper failing?
