GROM Audio GROM-IPD3 Aux input/Bluetooth

I recently bought and installed the GROM audio IPD3 Aux input and additional bluetooth dongle. Install was easy and the sound quality has been great so far through both the aux input and bluetooth streaming. The bluetooth streaming music from my phone(Samsung S4) has been great, I just jump in my car and the music starts playing automatically from where it left off last. I can also change tracks through the seek/track button on stereo without touching my phone. I don't have any pics of the install but it was pretty straight forward and only took me about an hour to do. If you have any questions let me know. Just wanted to share my experience so far. I am not affiliated with GROM in any way.

Been looking for something like this, glad to here the seek functionality still works. Anyone else use this.

Keep us uupdated on if anything goes wrong. I might pick this up.

EDIT:

Did you have to use the mic they gave you for the bluetooth, or are you still using the factory mic?

What input do you put the car on to allow for access to the bluetooth?

Just want to make sure this is for the 08 fx and do I have to pull apart the navigation systems

I also have grom audio installed in my car. you do needto pull out the dash to plug the unit to where the SAT radio is.

One issue I have with my unit is that the volume is a little too low (I usually set the volume to 5 to 7 for radio, for GROM I have to pump it up to 12 to 14). Do you encounter the same issue OP?
 
I dont believe it would void your warranty, just like the dice media bridge this is completely reversable, you can remove it and nobody would ever know it was there (assuming you don't act retarded and drill holes and shit).

EDIT:

I read a bunch of really old posts (from as early as 2004 all the way until 2011), and the dice mediabridge seems like the better choice, people really had problems with the Grom unit. Don't know if they have changed their QC since then, but I don't particularly feel like being a guinypig.

Yes, the volume needs to be higher. I have mine usually around 10-12 while cruising.

I used the mic that came with the Bluetooth dongle.

You have to use the SAT input to use the Aux/bluetooth.

Thanks for the post. I looked at it awhile ago but unfortunately that's only for ipod/iphone. This one with grom audio works with android!

I'm leaning toward the Grom for my FX; while researching I see there's some audio loss and the volume has to be cranked up. Can anyone tell me what bit rate you're encoding your MP3's to? 128K vs 320K?

As a DJ, most of my music files are 320K for the best audio quality. Of course the files jump in size from 5 MB file to 10 MB or better. I'm just curious.

I think the volume loss they're talking about is the smartphone in general. The audio signal is weak going to the stereo. That can be corrected by adding a signal booster/line driver. Or if you have a rooted android phone you can tweak your volume settings louder.

I used to use a GROM and there is volume lost, but the device has an external config file seating at the root of the USB stick that you can tweak via computer. Well that method was on a older unit that do not have BT capability. I'm using the Dice MediaBridge device now, there is also volume lost, but you can tweak it via the a menu drive system through the radio interface.
 
UPDATE - Santa brought me an early gift; I got a Grom USB/AUX Android Interface Adapter. I installed the USB female in the center console. I created the file folders as instructed and dropped tunes in each of the folders, hit the preset A, and then SAT. Voila!!! My folders along with the songs were there AND I'm able to control from the steering wheel. The coolest thing though and most important is the SOUND. Well people; it's CD quality sound. There are NO DROPS in BASS. Mind you most of my music files are 320KB of which yields the best fidelity compared to a 128KB song. So with that said and $115.00 with shipping. I'll give it two thumbs up!!! I was skeptical about Grom at first but it appears they've done some upgrading to their units.
 
glad to hear GROM had made the improvement. How is the volume? The volume and basss were really low on the older unit.
 
has anyone tryed this with a 04 fx with a none lcd screen i want to know if all the goodies work with the non lcd screen and control from the steering wheel.
