GROM issues in 2010 G37
Hi guys, I just purchased a Grom unit: the model was the Nissan Infiniti USB Android iPod iPhone Bluetooth Aux car kit (SKU: NIS02U3). I would post a direct link, but I can't because I am a new infinitiscene member.
I had the unit installed by a third party car audio installer in my 2010 G37 and it is not working as it should. I don't really know how to get at the stereo and do the installation myself so I am relying on a third party to do it for me. That being said, I am hoping to trouble shoot the issue so that I can tell the guy what needs to be changed.
There are a few issues: the unit I bought has bluetooth, USB, aux and an extra USB just for charging (no audio connectivity). The USB line won't play at all. The bluetooth seems to work best, but sometimes you can hear the satellite radio preview channel playing in the background quieter than the music from the ipod. The aux will play, but you can always still hear the satellite radio previews playing softer in the background. And sometimes it just won't connect at all and I have to cycle between disc/radio/AUX Satellite functions until it eventually connects and begins to play. Even then, it sometimes drops out after it was playing for a while.
My impression when buying the unit was that the satellite radio functions were supposed to be disabled entirely (this wasn't going to be an issue to me as I don't prescribe and just hear the previews). I am wondering now if the satellite radio and grom are somehow competing against one another causing my intermittent connection issues and causing both ipod and sat radio to play at the same time when I can connect. I thought that the grom plugs into the satellite radio port so I don't understand how they can both be functioning at once.
Any help anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated.
Matt
