GROM Audio GROM-IPD3 Aux input/Bluetooth

GROM issues in 2010 G37

Hi guys, I just purchased a Grom unit: the model was the Nissan Infiniti USB Android iPod iPhone Bluetooth Aux car kit (SKU: NIS02U3). I would post a direct link, but I can't because I am a new infinitiscene member.

I had the unit installed by a third party car audio installer in my 2010 G37 and it is not working as it should. I don't really know how to get at the stereo and do the installation myself so I am relying on a third party to do it for me. That being said, I am hoping to trouble shoot the issue so that I can tell the guy what needs to be changed.

There are a few issues: the unit I bought has bluetooth, USB, aux and an extra USB just for charging (no audio connectivity). The USB line won't play at all. The bluetooth seems to work best, but sometimes you can hear the satellite radio preview channel playing in the background quieter than the music from the ipod. The aux will play, but you can always still hear the satellite radio previews playing softer in the background. And sometimes it just won't connect at all and I have to cycle between disc/radio/AUX Satellite functions until it eventually connects and begins to play. Even then, it sometimes drops out after it was playing for a while.

My impression when buying the unit was that the satellite radio functions were supposed to be disabled entirely (this wasn't going to be an issue to me as I don't prescribe and just hear the previews). I am wondering now if the satellite radio and grom are somehow competing against one another causing my intermittent connection issues and causing both ipod and sat radio to play at the same time when I can connect. I thought that the grom plugs into the satellite radio port so I don't understand how they can both be functioning at once.

Any help anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Matt

Welcome to :iS2: Matt. I'm not familiar with satellite radio/receiver to help in that area... on the usb playing mode, how are the MP3 layout on the USB stick? I would copy a few MP3 directly onto the root of the USB stick to try it out.

Thanks for the welcome, I have tried directly from the root folder of a USB stick, tried directly from an ipod, and tried from my sorted music folders on my external hard drive. Nothing displays on the screen and nothing plays. The USB hookup seems to be totally non responsive. It does charge though... as does the second USB hookup which is only meant for charging. It wouldn't be such a big deal if the AUX or Bluetooth worked well, but sdaly I am having trouble with all three.

I've started a ticket with GROM technical support as well, hoping to hear back soon.

I installed GROM a few years back and it is great - almost as good as OEM. It pairs up automatically every time I get in the vehicle and the quality for bluetooth and music streaming is crystal clear.

Hello everybody, my name is Markus, living in Switzerland. I have a FX45 from 2004 with the Teck Package. The Navi was changed to the european system, that means I have to use a remote control for it.

Now I bought a Grom BT3 and I installed it via the SAT connection. It works on all connections (blue tooth,AUX1/2) and the sound is very good.
But i have no information in the display. The only what I see is the XM CH-1 down in the display but nothing in main part of the display (like Trip1/2, Maintenance, Setting,..). The display is black there.
Is this normal for 2004? Does only the newer Fx (2006..) with the other center console have this function?
By the way also when I listen radio or cd I have not this information field.

many thanks for your support.
Best regards from Switzerland
Markus
