GROM Audio GROM-IPD3 Aux input/Bluetooth

Merry Christmas Andy....I didn't notice a difference. Took the same song; an mp3 burned to disk. Played them both consecutively...no difference. I actually have to turn the bass down on some songs but the dynamic range is exceptional. With that being said...I want more all the way around..next on deck....JL Audio 10" sub!!!

I installed the USB and Bluetooth a few months ago. I pretty much use the bluetooth exclusively now. Both are excellent sound quality. I think as long as you have a "SAT" button it will work. There is probably a model that works without the SAT button too.

I may make a switch from the Mediabridge soon. Recently I upraded the firm ware and it been giving me problem. Every now and then, it won't respond and I have to "reboot" by disconnecting it from power (the wire that goes to the back of the factory head unit).

Guys, how is the resume play on the GROM now.

@SPCL FX, which model you got? OP said his as lost of volume, the had to crank the volume up on his.

Resume play works great. I have a bluetooth app that opens and slacker radio when the car starts.

BTW I was using a direct auxiliary connection through the rear media prior to this and the volume level was much weaker compared to the grom. Grom volume is great. At least with the s4.

How is resume play on a USB stick? Anyone? I understand resume play is no problem with a phone or ipod.

UPDATE - Santa brought me an early gift; I got a Grom USB/AUX Android Interface Adapter. I installed the USB female in the center console. I created the file folders as instructed and dropped tunes in each of the folders, hit the preset A, and then SAT. Voila!!! My folders along with the songs were there AND I'm able to control from the steering wheel. The coolest thing though and most important is the SOUND. Well people; it's CD quality sound. There are NO DROPS in BASS. Mind you most of my music files are 320KB of which yields the best fidelity compared to a 128KB song. So with that said and $115.00 with shipping. I'll give it two thumbs up!!! I was skeptical about Grom at first but it appears they've done some upgrading to their units.

How bad was the install? I really want to add Bluetooth for hands free calling. Are there decent install instructions available for taking apart the dash?

Simple. The piece around the stereo simply pulls off. I think there are instructions somewhere in one of these forums. Basically just pull the bottom left using a plastic tool or something that won't scratch, and carefully pull the rest of it out. The rest of the instructions come with the grom unit.

Hey just wanted to know does it come with the iPod cable or do u have to buy it separate?

An update from my experience from the last 2 months of use. I have been using bluetooth exclusively and it has been great. The sound quality is very good and the volume is fine now. I did experience a lose of volume initially but it is perfectly fine now. It may just have been the settings on my phone. But now I have the bluetooth volume all the way up on the phone(Samsung S4 with rocket music player app) and I only need the volume at about 5-7 on the car. When I get a phone call I need to turn up the volume higher to about 10-12. I can still control the track forward/back through the stereo and it still continues to play from where it left off. Overall still very happy with the Grom product.

Hi all. I installed the same unit (NIS02A3 AUX-IN) and can play from headphone outputs from my Windows phone and iPhone. Volume/sound quality is great, but I have no functional control of tracks or folders/artists on either phone using the steering wheel or head unit track controls, and have to use the phone to change tracks (really annoying). On the GROM website the install for the 2009 FX shows the need to unplug the SAT connector by the spare wheel. Is this the case for the 2006 model year also?

Thanks!

Steve

Mine is a 2004 and I just left my SAT harness disconnected behind the radio. That worked for me.

You can live chat with the guy at grom. I was having problems too and he walked me through it.

It's because you are using AUX IN with this method of playback I do not know any units (Dice, I simple, pac, etc) that will change tracks. Use blue tooth or for you iPhone use the iPhone cable. These methods support a2dp or media control.

^:plus1: You're play through the Aux-in via the headphone jack which is like plugging your phone into a radio with an auxiliary input via of a radio; there is no control of the playing from the radio buttons. Headphone jack only transmit audio; no controls signal. Other are playing through Bluetooth via their phone or a USB stick, which head unit will have playing control.

You will have to get the AND2-NIS02 http://www.gromaudio.com/store/andr...android_adapter_direct_digital_interface.html

Ok, thanks - that makes sense (in spite of the website claim for this unit). I guess a return/exchange is in order....
