HELP PLEASE!!!

Sorry to sound so needy but really need some help on this.

BACKGROUND:

I'm working with a 2013 FX37 NAV Hong Kong edition. Why did i mention Hong Kong? because even when i engage the e-brakes it still won't allow me to watch DVD. The audio from the DVD still plays but the screen says Video is disabled even when parked and e-brake pressed. So i decided to take it all apart following the instructions.

I decided to go with Saleen's second way just so I could get all the functions. I grounded the purple wire and then just cut off the VSS wire from the other plug that seemed to resemble my unit the most. I didn't do a switch yet because I couldn't get one yet but I could always just go back and install it. What I found is that my plug has a lot more wires than Saleen shows on his post. The circled wire is what I presume to be the VSS that resembled saleen's picture and went on and cut it.

So now I have my E-brake wire grounded and VSS (second way) cut and taped but it still won't allow me to watch DVD. I'm assuming the extra wires going in the plug is what's disabling the DVD. Could someone help me with this?

Ok second part: LOL
While removing the plugs from the connectors I managed to poke a hole in one of the tape wire with a small flat head. Yes it was a Oh FUCK moment because I didn't know which buttons it would affect.

From this Unit:

So all the other buttons work except the CAMERA one. I have no way to tell if the camera mod has been successful right now. The only way that I can get the camera to work is when I go in reverse. Does anyone know the part number for this? I'm gonna have to order me a new one.

So in conclusion, its safe to say that this is not the typical 10+ NAV mod when working with a video disabled FX37. I have to first figure out what's preventing the video to play in the first place. Any help would be appriciated. Thanks.

I'll just post the two connectors side by side to see the difference.

Update:

I connected back the wire that was cut from the 2nd way and I tried the first way but still no luck here. Video still won't play when stationary+ebrake on just like it was when I got the car brand new. I suspect other wires that are disabling the system but I don't got the balls to try each one. Please HELP ME!!!

---------- Post added 03-18-2013 at 02:00 AM ---------- Previous post was 03-17-2013 at 10:15 PM ----------

Update 2:
I DIY'ed the tape wire that I poked a hole in and now the camera button works. Camera mod works now (at all speeds) but still no video.

Camera Mod only works with the 2nd way but either way did not allow me to watch video when moving or when not moving +ebrake. I asked my sales guy, he said infiniti actually has a Japanese programmer come to Hong Kong to disable video watching (100%) and no wire cutting or grounding will make the video show. Quite pissed at this. I think this is a first as I believe no other place has a strict no video watching law enforced. Anyways just shit out of lunk on this.

^ You realize you can just buy this mod...no wire cutting.

I honestly don't feel like paying couple hundred bucks on something that takes me 20mins and some snipping and cutting. I'm comfortable around wires. I have actually had contact with carkitcompany and even he couldn't solve this problem (I must add that he was extremely helpful throughout the process).

The problem is that this is a special case where I said above
"I asked my sales guy, he said infiniti actually has a Japanese programmer come to Hong Kong to disable video watching (100%) and no wire cutting or grounding will make the video show."

Did you even read my post and my issue? As a moderator, that was really uncalled for and extremely unhelpful to my question.

I read it. I took it as you were pissed that this Japanese guy figured out how to do it with no wire cutting or anything and you wish you could but now since he left he cant do it for you and I mentioned that there are a few options already for this. One is I believe about $180 and another $300.

I thought I was being helpful. Sorry you interpreted otherwise. People are here to help in any way they can.

I know you are trying to help but I think you understood me wrong. The japanese guy from Infiniti disabled any type of video viewing (regardless of park and e-brake). No mod, wire cutting, or plug in harness would work for the issue of FX's sold in Hong Kong. Do you understand me now? Do you understand the problem I am having which cannot be solved by any option that you can buy for either $180 or $300 that you mentioned?

ok Mr. NKC1 so what you are saying is that the japanese guy can disable your system without cutting any wires which means he can probaly reverse the system the same way and you want to know if there is away to do the samething without cutting wires or spending alot of money? Is that your question? or maybe I got it wrong too.

Exactly! But I don't mind cutting wires or spending a little money knowing its a more complicated matter now.

So I hate to be the one to bring this thread back from the dead but. I've recently decided that I need this mod in my life. Anyone in the NY or NJ area that wouldn't mind tackling this project for me and charging me for it. Or charging me to show me how to do it. My biggest concern is taking apart the dash, I always seem to break tabs and such doing this kind of thing on my own.

If you wanna pay mucho $$ then try 180 customs.

We have some members in that area that may do so. I'd be comfortable with another 2nd Gen owner doing the job. Where's Aaron, he could do this blindfolded.

I'm an FX35 owner in NJ and also the owner of Car Kit Company and we make one of the Plug and Play kits mentioned in this thread. I would be happy to help with the install if you are interested.

I think we spoke once on the phone when you first told us about your plug and play kit. I never got back to you but at the time you weren't quite sure if your kit was completely compatible with the 09 FX. Your kit is the kit that can use a remote or the buttons on the rear view mirror correct? My primary reason for doing this mod would be to use my phone with a media hub to be able to stream my phones screen to the cars lcd. I want to do what the guy in the video from this thread did so I can play music videos, use Google Maps navigation, skype on the lcd (strictly just to see the expression on somones face lol) you get the point.

Do I have to take apart my dash for your kit? If so, I might as well do the mod the way they do it on this thread. I'm not leary about cutting, soldering, or grounding wires, I'm actually comfortable with that stuff. I'm just not comfortable pulling apart the dash though. I have very bad luck with not breaking and bending tabs.

Yes you still need to get to the connectors with our plug and play kit, so if you are not worried about cutting and soldering etc then you might as well go the DIY path.

fxthirtyfive,

Thats the plug right there. i highlighted the ones you have to work with

aaakcx.jpg

Bout to attempt this mod soon, just to be clear when I cut the ground wire, I am taking the end that would still be attached to the connector/plug and grounding that end. Then I can just tape off the end that continues back into the cars dash?

bdl99,..I just bought my 2012 FX and NavMod was my first must do 'upgrade'. I purchased your system and works great after 3 weeks. I like that fact that its reversible. Great product.
