Enable AUX/Video input while driving

Has anybody ordered a factory switch for this mod? I want this to look as factory as possible. Any advice as to which looks and functions the best....ie, 2 position and single pull/throw or double pull/throw would work fine as well.

Thanks

Edit....well I was trying to be helpful by posting schematics and diagrams instead of just being an uninformed troll...but seeing how I can't post anything because I don't have "10 posts"....:at-wits-end:

So my apologies....here is a BS link if anybody would be kind enough to help me out with this.

Again and even more so now...many thanks and my apologies for the inconvenience.

I created a switch solution for the 370z using a heated seat switch.

There is really no downside to permanently bypassing the parking brake so the easiest solution is to:
1) Disconnect the parking brake wire from the AV unit and permanently ground the wire leading to the AV unit
2) Then just have a regular single pole on/off switch in series with the speed sensor wire. If the on position the car will perform as normal and in the off position the speed bypass will be enabled

Next if you would rather have have the bypass activated in the on position then you could use a relay - This is what I did with the 370z solution so that the light was on when activated and off when not

If you want a switch solution to not permanently bypass the parking brake then I would do the following using a DPDT switch

Of course finding a factory DPDT switch may be more difficult.

We (www.carkitcompay.com) are considering offering a plug & play harness that a could be used with the customers own switches. This is something that I have already made for a couple of customers where it allows flexibility but maintains the main benefit of our kits, which is not requiring cutting car harnesses. The customer would have to source their own switches etc (could be from Radio shack, factory switches etc). The target price is $110 and it would include the same harness as the remote unit plus the following harness

The two blue wires would be normally connected by a toggle switch and breaking the connection would enable the speed bypass

Grounding the black wire would permanently bypass the Parking brake

A normally open switch would be placed between the Red and Orange wires. Connecting those would then activate the rear camera override

The green wire would only be required in someone wanted to restore parking brake bypass to factory state.

Thanks for the reply and info...I'm not uncomfortable with the mod at all...the only question I really have is which factory switch is best for this application.

I haven't seen anybody mention that the parking break indicator light comes on, so a DPDT isn't necessary but if out there...figured what the hell. Always like to do this kind of stuff as stealth and professional as possible.

Thanks again for the reply.

The issue isn't the parking brake indicator light coming on, that wouldn't happen unless you just grounded the wire without cutting it. The only reason for using a switch on the parking brake wire is if you want it to be undectable without taking the car apart. Without the switch (meaning just cutting the wire and gronding the end going to the AV unit) if you (or the dealer) goes in to the AV diagnostics it will show the parking brake as on regardless of state.

The DPDT switch is only required if you want everything to be factory state in one position and in the other position break the speed sensor wire and ground the Parking Brake wire.

If like most you don't care about the AV diagnostics, then just a single pole switch is fine on the speed sensor wire.

I like stealth also, which is why I use the remote unit and pair it with one of the homelink buttons on the rearview mirror, that is about as stealth as it gets.

Has been done. Look on page 9. You can go under the FX50 section on any parts website and order the Shock switch or any switch that toggles on and off. All switches mount the same way, they will fit in any capped switch hole.

Hello Saleen,
new user here with limited accessibility to PMs. Just to clarify.. will the built in factory dvd player be able to play dvd's while car is in motion using both of your methods or just the second?
Thanks so much
Pete

Just installed the carkitcompany harness and it works perfectly on my 2013. I think it took about 45 minutes as I was being extremely careful. No cut wires and easily reversible.

Had this for a while with a harddrive chuck full of movies connected and when i play movies it show little static while playing. Now i replaced it with the iphone composite av cable and now the static is worse when playing videos, is it the shielding of the cable that sucks or is it normal ?

I'm assuming these harnesses will not work in the 2006? Going on a trip to Myrtle Beach and would love to have video for the middle seated little guy while on the way!

I got no static. Plays awesome and absolutely perfect like a movie theatre especially with the aftermarket sub and amp. I have prestigious society mod, is that what you have?

I had this issue when I used a different cable on my media player.

If you play with the rca plugs does the static change? If so, you may need an rca ground loop isolator.
