I have bikes:

Battaglin road bike, Italian with Campy Chorus 10 speed. Road bike purchased in Italy.

Specialized Enduro SL expert, S-Works dual crown fork, sram, avid; Stock trailbike.

Giant Reign X, coil/coil, 7 inch Stock freeride.

Kona Stab deluxe, 888 fork, fox dhx shock, Stock DH.

My next bike will be a town bike. If I ever actually live in a town, which I doubt.

BUMP to MTBs!

John, been updrading the beater recently thanks to ebay. It's been my throw around urban ride recently. Changing out the gearing & brakes right now. Latest parts I got on order are retro XTR rapid fires & derailers. Decided to stay w/ 8 speed. Avids for stopping. Looking for not too abused XT cranks & BB right now

Really shitty picture. But its an iron horse, nothing is stock on the bike. All x-9 components, 9 speed obviously (may upgrade to the new x-0), all new wheel set 15 mm through axel, Hayes hydraulic front brakes, avid bb7's (8 inch rotors Front and rear) fox f 120 or 140 fork, can't remember, rock shox monarch 4.2 rear shock, I have carbon handle bars, stem, ect waiting to be installed, and im sure there are many things on it I can't remember. this is my hobby, well one of them, pretty expensive hobby lol.

8 speed xtr stuff should be had a great bargain & is still very good stuff, don't need 9 speed really & there are a lot of mountain guys that swear on 8 speed over 9 anyway, a bit more durable & less finicky plus beefier chain. xt is about as good as xtr but just a bit heavier really, for non racing it's about as good really, especially stuff like bb & crank, derailers & shifters I'd say def go xtr like you did though...

now that I'm getting more into tig welding I want to build a frame:tongue (2):

I had xtr components on a previous steed and found them to be way more expensive, slightly quicker, much lighter, and slightly less durable than their xt counterparts. Since then I've rocked xt for everything and never looked back (forward?).

My retro build has begun
Look what came in the mail today. Got it on the cheap, & in pristine shape :smile (2):
More stuff on the way

Slowly, but more good stuff. Not worried about the gear display windows. I'll likely pull those anyway. For the 50 bucks I paid (so cheap), these M950's are maybe some of the best old school rapid fires ever made. Pretty stoked about the deal

Shifters arrived. WOW. Still tight & crisp shifts. This was a crazy deal. I can look beyond the scratches for such a crispy shifter. Looks like these jump half cassette nicely on the 8. Still looking for a few more things, but my patience is paying off. Need a good XTR rear derailer from the same speed set, some cables & some new V's, & I should be ready to go. I figure a decent crankset can come later. My Answer shock still rebounds well. It's a vintage ManitouSX. Rimset is some decent Mavics with old school XTR hubs. Good enough for throwing at the curb.

We share my joy

Your kidding me. You have the rack hooks up on the top of the plastic third brake light. Thats a good amount of weight you have on that. I'd be afraid of cracking the wing.
