Annual Midwest Spring/Fall Area Meet in Chicago

^^^Ok what is Dim Sum? and could we possibly do Blackwell Forest preserve as opposed to Oakbrook Forest preserve? Can't do Busse if people were gonna take pics and eat first in the city. I'd be sitting at Busse for hours by myself. To reserve an area the permit holder MUST be present at 8am at Busse. Blackwell is huge and really nice, compromise???

Now that's a plan.... Ordered my wheels from B2 today.. Might be done by then, but I doubt it. If it gets here after that date, it just gives me another excuse to meet you guys again..

Slaming: think small bite size, pot sticker type food usually eaten in the morning.. Chinese tapas? lol

AWESOME!

So confirmed we are meeting in city of Chicago and going west.

I was thinking Planetarium we meet here:

Man Enters the Cosmos, Chicago, IL 60605 - Google Maps

where the meters are at because I have a feeling the parking lot next door you would need to pay. This is probably the best central downtown location, but not sure if we would take pictures from here....if you guys have ideas where to take the shots, rolling shots, etc, we should start taking down notes so that we are organized and can get stuff done before the traffic comes.

Meet at what 8am or 8:30am?

Then Happy Chef for dim sum or whatever, located here at B:
E Solidarity Dr, Chicago, IL 60605 to 2164 South Archer Avenue, Chicago, IL 60616-1514 - Google Maps

Then instead of Busse Wood lets do Blackwell Forest preserve or Oakbrook Forest preserve. Wherever is good for large area, grill pot like style, and do installs without issues would be my vote.

Then we are going to need to get a list of what everyone is bringing lol.. somebody better be bring some dslrs! :) Soooo excited!

I live in the city so I'll meet up with those that want to meet for pics; I'll bring my cam. After the pics we can get some breakfast or cruise over to the general meeting area. Everyone can meet up around 11-12pm at Oak Brook Park District for the meet and greet and some food (we can finalize the eats later).

Sounds good Ian. I'll checkout Oakbrook Park District and Blackwell on the way home from work tomorrow and will report back.

i say 8am...it better not rain or nothin! im excited  my friends got a nice camera i think i can borrow his for the day too

Will be there 8am with a Venti coffee. I'll wake this early on a Sunday only for a few rare things and a FX meet is one of them ;)

8am it is. I liked that we have an unofficial/official plan now. NOw that that seems fairly settled ... who would be in for a pre meet on some random day? just a quick meet up grab some food get to know some fellow FXers around the area?

I've been to Blackwell a few times. I volunteer for a rescue and we have our annual picnic/reunion there. Lot's of small ponds and trees; it's like a small forest lol. It's just about 20 min farther than downtown, but since ed and I are the only ones in the city limits then I guess that would be ok with everyone else.

I hope you know how to use it.. I'm a Sony guy and everytime I use my brother's Canon, I never know where the setting are and it takes forever for me to get the shot I want.

I'm sure we can do something like that in a few weeks. Let's set up a side pre-meet via PM's to keep this thread clean and on point.

I'm a go for the early meet, heck we can meet at 6 am. I wake up at 5 am no matter what. I could be so tired/sick/drunk and sleep at 3 am and wake up at 5 am automatically . It's a curse, I hate it.

So, last thing is the spot... To be determined soon.

I can't meet up on Sundays until after noon time, so if you guys go out early, I'll have to meet up later. No Happy Chef for me.

Also, thought of another great meet-up place. There's a newer McDonald's by Oak Brook Mall (The one on 22nd Street, not Midwest Road). It has a really large parking lot too and it's a very central location. Close to Jd's parent's in Western Springs and easy to get to from, say Chinatown too.

there are some nice parking lots around there near the lodge hotel too.

Yeah, I grew up in Oak Brook, one mile away from The Lodge. My mom used to take me to the restaurant there to eat all the time. That's a great place to have a meet, at McDonald's worldwide headquarters, but I don't know if there is any security there that would not like us being there. Other than that I still think OB, Downers Grove area is still the best place to meet after anytime early morning runs you guys do. :smile (2):
