Annual Midwest Spring/Fall Area Meet in Chicago

Yeah, I grew up in Oak Brook, one mile away from The Lodge. My mom used to take me to the restaurant there to eat all the time. That's a great place to have a meet, at McDonald's worldwide headquarters, but I don't know if there is any security there that would not like us being there. Other than that I still think OB, Downers Grove area is still the best place to meet after anytime early morning runs you guys do. :smile (2):

haha you baller. Wifey worked at the global headquarters until she got promoted to Chairman and CEO of Baby.

Really? Your wife worked at Jorie Blvd? Nice, I would love to work there. McD's is hiring now, lol. I need to see if some of those 15K openings apply to Corporate jobs. I would love to work and live by the area again. My girlfriend got a job at Harris Bank back in October and is in Oak Brook all the time now. Lucky her.

You mean ChairMom and CEO.

Funny you mention the Chairmom thing, I've been noticing a trend of keeping it status-quo, and stays as Chairman vs Chairwoman. I've been hearing actresses being called "actors" being non-gender biased as well for another example. Anyways, I'm hijacking this thread -- whoops.

PM me what specific position, I might be able to get you a foot in the door... at least a toe. I still have contact there myself. Some on the US side too, in that other white building.

Lucky, the planetrium! I was just there a month ago visiting my brother and he took us there to take some nice pics with the waterfront and such. Looking forward to pictures of the meet!

Cool thanks, I will need to look into it more and I'll PM you, Ed. I was clearing out some boxes in my garage yesterday and I have your 06+ cluster ready to go for you too. Meet can't come soon enough!

Also, thought of another great meet-up place. There's a newer McDonald's by Oak Brook Mall (The one on 22nd Street, not Midwest Road). It has a really large parking lot too and it's a very central location. Close to Jd's parent's in Western Springs and easy to get to from, say Chinatown too.

I want some greenery, trees and grass. A place where there are picnic tables and we can bring portable/fold-able chairs and hang out.. I say we keep it to either Oak Brook PD or Blackwell. Living in the city has made me want nature more and more; I'm turning into a tree hugger.

And Aero, I'll bring some dim sum for you, but they are horrible cold :tonguey:

 Ed emailed me with a date in mind (before our May meet of course) for the cluster install. The ball is in my court. I need to check my calendar with my ChairMom to see if the date Ed had in mind is good. As matter affect, Chris (FX45Chicago) wants to get his LED mirror covers install

Hey Ian, we can always heat the Dim Sum up over our engines for him

I see a pre-meet install meet. Do it on 5/7, I have a rare saturday off lol.

I'm afraid the dim sum wouldn't make it all the way to the burbs; if I'm the one holding it, resistance is futile.

OT: this weather makes me sleepy and not want to get any work done.

+1

Also, I'll be in town next weekend end of april....won't be any other weekend leading up to 5/22.

I'm not sure who should take the reins here, cause I'm a Newbee. Just want to meet up with some of you guys and check out your modded badazz fx's

Ok guys, I went to check out Oakbrook Central Park. It is kinda tight and cramp there. I don't really see any good spot for us to hangout there. I also went to Blackwell Forest Preserve. I see a couple spot that would be a great meeting location. I honestly feel that it is way too far for some. So, among the choices, I think Busse Wood would be the best. We don't have to get a permit if we don't want a pavilion correct? Slamming45, if you could confirm that. We just bring our own chair and someone bring along a small table so we can hang closer to our cars. Thoughts?

I'll do whatever you guys decide whether it's oakbrook, busse, or blackwell.

Where is busse? Can someone post an exact address of the place so I have an idea where it's at?

Busse woods is right across Woodfield mall.

Ok, since Andy saw Oak Brook PD and it looks cramped, let's go a ahead and finalize the spot. Blackwell is a nice spot, but is a bit too far for those coming from the city (50 min from downtown and more from the north side). Busse woods is at most 30-35 minutes from everyone and is accessible from I90, I290 and 53/I355. We can meet up at 11:00 am and check out each others cars, talk shop, eat, drink and bs.

No need to get a pavilion, we'll just find a few trees and set up some folding chairs and maybe someone can bring a folding table. We can also bring some coolers for soda, water, beer etc.. (Slamming, not sure if we need a permit for the alcohol).

Let's hope for good weather and a nice turn out.. As you can see Busse Woods is huge and has a lot to offer. Some may want to bring their bikes, soccer balls, footballs, freesbies, badminton net, hopscotch, whatever. Can't wait to meet everyone and put a face to the car and the handle.

Andrew, where in OB PD did you drive to? The one off of Jorie Blvd across from McDonald's Corp? If you drive past the tennis courts and keep going along the parking lots, it dead ends into a really secluded parking lot surround by trees and another lot with a small clubhouse. Did you see that area? There's plenty of parking and privacy back there too.

Yeah, I drove all the way to the end where the basketball courts are. Yeah it's seculded.

Yes, that map is exactly what I was talking about. There should be another lot just next to it, to the left of the volleyball courts. Unless they changed it, I haven't been there in like 10 years, lol. Well I'll go where the majority goes, since it seems like more cars are coming now. But mini-meets @ Andrew's house in Aurora next time.

Only thing that concerns me with this location is the fact that it is a park district.. What if that weekend they're having some soccer games or hosting some tennis event? The parking lots would become crowded and our cars would likely be parked scattered in differnt spots; it would be nice to see a whole row of FX's. Park districts tend to get packed with events on weekends when the weather gets nicer. Andrew, since you grew up in the area, you would have greatest knowledge with regards to this.. You make the call.

I can't even imagine a mini-meet at my house. Everyone would have to parallel park and pray to find a parking spot that isn't permit. haha. Or you can park in those credit card meter spots.
