Annual Midwest Spring/Fall Area Meet in Chicago

Sure I'm open any weekend for jd. Back to the main event on 05.22, we should try to keep it to the original location as planned. The Oak Brook/Downers Grove area is a very central location for many of us and easy to get to from Chicago. There are lots of good areas in Downers Grove. For example, Fuddrucker's has a large parking lot for us to meet, chill, take pics and we can grab a good burger too!

Fuddrucker's he, never been to one.. My friends in HS used to call it fatf#ckr$ due to all the big folks going in.. kinda like culvers, good stuff, but if don't eat inside with a girl because she'll feel all guilty and worried that she'll get fat like the people there :confused.:.

I can pre-meet, but Sunday only... How about we grab some breakfast Sunday morning? Awesome cafe by my place :wink (2):

I can go wherever you guys decide on 5.22. BTW, got word about the wheels I ordered, definitely NOT going to be ready by then.. ouch

Never? I think you would like Fudd's. I've eaten at a lot of burger places. Even though it's a chain, It's my favorite burger place of all time. I just had Culver's two nights ago actually. It's pretty good, but not as good as Fudd's. Breakfeast doesn't work for me. I work until noon on Sunday's. What's your eta on your wheels? Get the tires at least?

Nope never ate there... I understand you make your own burger? Why would I do that, I'd rather have the professionals do it .

As for the wheels, lexani says 30 day delivery 30 days ago... Now it's another 30 days until it hits from China. So safe to say if I stay with these wheels it will likely be two months before it's on the car...

Are we going to do a cruise too? I think if we don't have a plan ahead of time of a cruise then the cruise will most likely not happen. So if interested we should plan cruise A to be B location.

Maybe it makes sense to meet elsewhere then cruise to oakbrook? Not sure where we would cruise from downers, when we would do pictures, etc?

Or I guess we could cruise to downtown, then I'll just already be packed and get the dogs in the car and go straight to Michigan from downtown area where maybe we can get some nice shots like under lower wacker or anywhere else in the city?

Let's just not go any farther west.

Yeah, a cruise will be great!

This is a meet and greet for me, being new. Oakbrook area is just fine by me. But we can always plan a photo outing another time downtown, Let's not over complicated it. How about Hooters as opposed to the Fudwreckers for a starting location? Never cared to go there, would rather see the orange shorts ne-way. Then A quick cruise with us ending at a forest preserve. Blackwell F.P. off of Butterfield just East of 59 is also a very nice open spot, to make another suggestion.

If chicken legs is what you want to see, then you would like Tilted Kilt even more. They have nicer uniforms there

If you want shots with the buildings, mag mile, lake shore etc, the best time is Sunday early morning.. That time there's no one on the streets, even cops, and you can jump out and take some shots. The old Meigs field, planetarium, lsd by north ave beach all give great backdrops...

What about if we met at the planetarium so we can take some great early pictures, maybe Michigan ave, some other places, then cruise to where you guys want, anything directly west of downtown (not north or south just west) so that end destination can be closer for everybody, such as oakbrook or another forest preserve?

I also would like grill/pot like style over just a restaurant...It would be more fun and can do installs and such more likely.

It might also be good to have a plan A (good whether) and B (bad whether) plans and then the day before or two days before we'll call if the meet will be A or B.

Good weather:
Planetarium early (maybe 9am) for meet and pictures; and pictures elsewhere in downtown. Destination West (oakbrook or wherever) for grilling/pot luck lunch install maybe 11 or 12pm.

Bad weather:
Something in oakbrook as you guys have been talking about or some forest preserve.

What you guys think?

haha the proposals for this meet are getting kinda crazy! lets start with agreeing on a place. I feel a majority are very open to anything. A few have some suggestions for a cruise/pics which I think is great. so lets try and get a Point A and B (assuming a cruise is in line) So if people would like to throw out specifics try and have details for everything and times if possible to give everyone an idea of the more likely options

So am I the only one that lives in the City of Chicago?

I also work downtown in the loop so my FX has turned into a soccer mobile since I take the train and my son likes the rear entertainment system.

I'm always happy to meet another FXer for lunch downtown loop if there is anyone else here. Just shoot me a PM.

I Do love the tilted kilt! Happy Chef? The planitarium does have great photo ops...

Just would hope everyone would go on the cruise back out to a Forest Preserve. Anyone mind if we make it Blackwell instead of Oakbrook? A few are comming from even further out west than me.

A cruise is a great idea. Cool, everyone seems very flexible. I think it will be great if we can get some shots with the Chicago skyline as the back drop from the planetarium. It has be really early in the morning though. Probably like before 9am though before the place getting crowded with traffic and people. Heck I'm an early bird. I can be at the planetarium around 8am if you guys up for it, then head to Happy Chef for dim sum, cruise out to Oakbrook or Busse Wood.
