2009-2011 Infiniti FX35 Shift Responsiveness Issues (Brand New Update #3)

live blog: I'm at the dealer ship right now, just told them about extreme acceleration lag and told them that a friend had the same update done to his car. I even printed out the TSB for them to avoid any confusion. Currently in the waiting room feeling nervous that they won't give me the update. I have a big trip to Chicago tomorrow so I would love to put the update to good use!

edit; the service guy just told me that the reprogram has been completed. can't wait to test it out on the way back home :)

hey guys, I'm curious on your experiences with this TSB. I went in for a scheduled appointment to have them look into the TSB among other things and they said they dont' know until the tech plugs a computer in and sees. I asked if they could check using my VIN or my production date, they said no. But reading this thread, some of you guys have the service people tell you up front which is what I want them to do! i'm not going to sign a paper that if they choose not to find anything to update I will have to pay an hour worth of labor.

Anyone in the GTA (Toronto) that know of a great dealership that will treat me like a customer?

BTW, mine is a 2012 FX35 and I'm having the same transmission issues. Mine even locks into a high gear no matter how hard I hit the gas pedal. I have to shift into manual mode to dislodge it LOL

I just received a call from a dealership, they looked into it and there's no TSB for 2012 and up...GAH! I think its time to upgrade to paddle shifters because there's no way i'm going to let my transmission lock into 5th gear without having to slam the gas pedal to make it downshift...

btw, anyone did a paddle shifter upgrade on a 2012?

Did you try disconnecting the battery for a while then hook it back up, to reset the ECU. Maybe some granny was driving your FX before you bought it and the ECU has to relearn.

Really? They took the brackets out? I'll check on mine but is the ability still there electronically?

I will be checking my steering column hopefully today but looking at the schematics for the two versions of steering columns, you only lose one mounting point for the paddle shifters. Each paddle requires two bolt holes and you have the one no matter what. The second one goes to the side and I can already see how you can make a custom bracket to hold it in place.

Do we have to change the housing or can we just bore out holes in the sides to accomadate the paddles?

On a side note, after cleaning the inside of my throttle bodies, my shift issues are completely gone! I also tightened the clamps on the hoses a little more, wondering if there was some air leaking past the MAF sensor.

I'm at Infiniti on Camelback right now, handed the printed out TSB from the first page and the service technician told me this is covered under warranty and they will take care of it for me! Currently in the waiting room kicked back in leather chairs, drinking premium bottled water and using the free wifi... lol! I will try and get the service notes scanned in and posted after they are done... but the service tech did say I should notice a big difference when they are done... can't wait!

hey folks
i also did ITB12 064A In Chicago Naperville and this transformed my ride from sh** to normal on a low speed
I am wandering who makes these transmission ? Are they the same ZF source like a BMW or another company ? I am asking because my 2010 M Sport BMW 550i did the same sh** before i sold it
Question - i think i also see a better gas mileage after this update especially when cruising on a HW , - can someone comment on this ?

My 2011 FX has had similar issues. When I slow down and then accelerate normally the car seems almost as if it going to stall, so I push the accelerator down more and then it surges and takes off somewhat suddenly - not smooth acceleration as when the car was new. I have about 33,000 miles on the car and recently replaced the battery, front brake pads and tires, so this is the only thing about the car that I do not like. I am going to call Infiniti service and ask if they can take care of this when I bring it in for an oil change, hopefully this coming week. I have owned one FX45, an EX35 an about 3 FX35s and never had anything like this. My first was a 2003 FX45 and I would like to upgrade to a new one, but am waiting for a revamp soon, as the new ones look about the same as my 2011.

i have a 2009 fx35, and i am having the issues. i did not get the extended warranty on the vehicle, could i still get this fixed free of charge by the dealer?

No you need the warranty yo have the update done. You would think that it's covered under the power train warranty but it's actually covered under the bumper to bumper 60K miles/4 year warranty.
