2009-2011 Infiniti FX35 Shift Responsiveness Issues (Brand New Update #3)

I just picked up my 2011 FX35 from infiniti of ardmore on saturday and I've noticed the lag acceleration during coasting. I called the infiniti service rep and told them about this issue, he checked my VIN and found the same bulletin that's on the first page of this thread. I made the appointment next Wednesday to get the ECM and TCM updated. I can't wait to feel the difference.

I would probably ignore the issue and think it is normal if it weren't for the help of the members of this forum. Thanks guys! =)

I've dealt with infiniti of ardmore. I walked out on the sales rep because they were rude. I would never go back to that place. I bought mine at Holman Infiniti in NJ.

I'm just going to put this out there for you guys with complaints about this transmission. I for one had complaints about it before. Not so much after the update which made a really nice difference.

But there is only so much that can be done for the programming on this transmission because it's a 7 speed.

The purpose of the 7 speed was to get better fuel economy. To do this the transmission stays on the highest gear possible at the lowest speed. So what's the problem you say? When you step or mash that accelerator pedal the car takes a while to downshift because it's in such a high gear. Think about it the car basically has to go from 7th all the way down to 3-4. Mechanically that isn't going to happen right away. Trust me you'll know that the car is in a high gear by how low it revs when causing at like 35-45 mph. You can hear the exhaust humming as the engine bogs down to maintain that low rpm. The lower the rpm the less your going to burn gas. Besides stupid EPA regulations, it's just the nature of having a transmission with 7 gears.

This is not isolated to Infiniti only. On porches and Benz and bimmers with 7 speed, 8 speed, and yes even 9 speed autos, this is a common problem and it's the lag. It's just the mechanical characteristic of these newer transmissions with like a billion speeds lol.

Hope this helps everybody. The update does help alot with the downshift times but don't expect miracles.

This is another reason why I wish manufacturers would just stop adding all these gears. It just increases the lag more and more. But with the bigger push towards better fuel economy today there is not much we can do.

I wouldnt mind if the lag wasnt as bad. It takes about 2.5 sec for the gear to kick in. In that 2.5 sec i cant switch lanes fast enough. Im not a crazy lane changing driver but when i forget, i wish i had no lag to actually pick up speed and change lanes.

There is clearly an issue with the transmissions programming. I thought I was the only one but seeing this, Infiniti needs to do some more tweaking. Can't have a transmission taking so much time switching gears or confused what it should do. I use paddles now, DS mode doesn't eliminate these issues either. But what I did notice is that the car reacts to your driving style. If you push the car, it will stay sporty. If you take your time, it takes its time.

I also went to infiniti of Ardmore and decided to purchase my fx from holman infiniti. I was treated good at Ardmore but holman totally blew them away in customer service. I guess that the update is vin specific

HI GUYS I AM FACING SAME ISSUE WITH MY TRANSMISSION. THE GEAR SHIFTING MAKES LITTLE ROUGH AROUND SPEED 60KM/H ALSO CANNOT MAKEQUICK RISING IT TAKES A TIME TO SPEED.

I know this is a very old thread but I'm going to have the ITB12-064 update completed in the near future. Just curious if the actual service bulletin can be re-posted as the attachment is no longer available. Thank you!

So I went to the dealership today and was told my TCM and ECM codes weren't on the list and this update wasn't a match for my vehicle. I'm so disappointed I'm experiencing the acceleration hesitation quite badly in my 09 FX35 and thought for sure this was the fix. Why would my codes not be a match? Could they be wrong at all?
