yeah guys haven't got it done yet.

I can't decide because I want everything done tilt sensors, smart start, gps tracking (even though I have LoJack), glass breakage, etc etc. And if I should go through the dealer or not.

I'm going to call Manny and ask him if he can also install my auto fold mirror module to get it to close and open when you lock/unlock the doors.

PS thanks you got me more in debt :top::tongue (2):

Guys, can you please tell me, which module from the viper web site should I buy to make a remote start without alarm, but via my oem infiniti key fob?
Thanks in advance!

Your installer can make any of the viper remote starters work with your oem remote, but trust me you won't want that because you get a lot more functionality from the viper remote and most importantly the range is 100x better. Plus the viper remote is very slim if you get the viper 4204 remote start system without alarm, which is what I got. If you get the lcd one which is a step up, then you'd be carrying around a bulky black and white lcd screen as a key fob, which sounds like you wouldn't want so go with the 4204 like I did. Check out my jdTrader page if you want to see a video of it.

Thank you for your help! I thought that I could use my iPhone for the full functionality... But if You say it's good, then I'll try it))
Thank's again!

you can get the smart start (start it with your iPhone) with the 4204, just need the extra smart start module.

Depends on how proficient you are with wiring and schematics. I wouldn't trust myself to do a remote start on an electrically complicated vehicle like the FX, but a few have tackled it themselves.

My suggestion would be to find a competent installer and let the pros handle it.

I agree. Most cars yes, but FX no....

Just bought a 2010 FX50 and got a Directed Electronics remote starter installed with the cellular module to use the smartphone app. Works pretty well, but have to get the software checked since it sometimes cuts off when you open the door. Have to use a separate fob for the traditional remote start, but I'm hoping to get consistent enough performance with the phone app where I can just leave the fob at home.

How soon does it shut off? There is a security in place that after 30 seconds I believe or something it will shut off if a door has been opened and you haven't pressed on the brake to deactivate the security.

Just as a follow up to my SmartStart install, everything went smooth. I was concerned that after I remote started and opened the driver door the engine would shut down. This is not the case, but I did find out that the FX has to be locked before you remote start and then unlock, get in, shut the door, and hit the brake within 45 seconds. They couldn't use my stock Inifiniti remote to start the car as I am using an older model of the remote starter. All is well, and differently from my previous MDX I can still use the stock remote to enter the vehicle by using the buttons or the keyless entry. This is nice as before if I would start the MDX from my iphone I would have to unlock it from the phone, which is kind of a pain and sometimes unreliable. Especially when leaving work and my phone is trying to switch between wifi and LTE. So, yeah I'm happy with the results. The Valentine One hard wire went smooth as well and is in a great spot up by the visor. The new 34% tints on the driver and passenger windows look great. So.... what's next?

You guys got me interested in this now. So from the packages on viper.com/smartstart the viper 5904 and the 5204 give the same function such as alarm start and everything but the 5904 just gives you a fancy screen remote? Also do you have to pay a subscription?

I have the Viper 5104 with a Smart Start Module. It eliminates the need for a 2nd key fob. The factory key fobs function as normal with a double press on the lock button to remote start. I still have the Viper remotes to use if I choose but I never do because the Smart Start Module gives me all the functionality I need from my phone plus unlimited range (as long as your phone and car are both in an area where your cell phone service provider covers). I chose to go this route because I did not want to have to carry both the factory key fob and viper remote around all of the time. With the Smart Start Module I am able to Lock/Unlock, Remote Start, Panic, and much much more using my phone. You can also see your cars location on a map if you get the GPS enabled Smart Start Module. So basically with my setup I use the factory key fob for the most part then if I need more range I use my phone. The Smart Start will send a text message to your phone whenever you alarm is triggered also. Keep in mind that the Smart Start will only be as reliable as your cell phone service provider. I have heard some people complain about the app not working all of the time but I rarely have issues with the app and I have Verizon as a cell phone service provider, so I also rarely have issues with cellular service.

To answer your two questions:
Yes for the most part the difference between the MAIN Viper alarm systems is the remotes. Ranging from a basic one-way remote, a two-way remote, or a two-way remote with an lcd screen.

Secondly you do not need a subscription unless you buy a Smart Module which will then require a one year (I think $50) or a three year (I think $120) subscription for the non-gps module. The gps module is more expensive all the way around.
