The Random Question Thread

Sorry, I used to have a GROM. I guess I must have forgotten that it needs constant 12V. In that case go for the clock wires. Red/White is +12V & Black is ground.

It looks relatively simple but I'm just stuck at the 12v cable that I need to attach to the constant power 12v. I tried a blue/white cable and nothing and then I tried a yellow one and nothing. Can you see if you can see the cigarette wiring or any other hot wire from these pics.

Thanks for the useful info! I gave it a shot today to finish it and it works flawlessly ! I'm really impressed of the sound quality, I wasn't expecting the same audio quality as if I was listening to a CD.

Hello guys. I am about to do my 90k miles maintenance schedule and plan to do it myself, I would appreciate getting answers to the following:

1) It says replace manual transmission oil - where is the tank for this oil located and what type of oil to use?
2) For the differential fluids drain plug - what are the sizes of the crush washer to use? Is it the same type used on the engine oil?
3) it also says "optional flush ATF". Is this recommended or a simple drain and fill is more than enough?
4) Lubricate all locks and hinges - what type of lube to use? I have a Versachem anti seize thread lubricant can I use this? http://www.itwconsumer.com/versache...=Anti-Seize Thread Lubricant, 8 oz. bottle-78

Thanks in advance.

1. Our cars use an automatic transmission, so no need to worry about that lol, that's just a generic guide to cater to both auto and manual Infinitis
2. Weird.. I don't think I saw a crush washer on mine.
3. Drain and fill is fine.

Crush washers are the same size for the rear diff at least (I'm RWD). I ran out of the ones for oil changes quicker because I used it on my diff.

For the ATF fluid I used Matic S or J, whatever the newer one is. I picked it up from a Nissan dealer as that was cheapest. I did a drain and fill, either 4 or 5 quarts. If you have a drain pan that gives volumes that is perfect. You can try to stop draining right at a quart level, then refill with that many quarts.

Thanks Nnaji and Stu. I plan to use Redline D4 ATF for the transfer case and Redline 75W90 for the differentials. I used the same oils the last time though I had the dealer do the change for me.

I read some very good mechanic reviews about the 3M silicon paste to use as multipurpose lubrication. They say that petroleum based lube has the tendency to swell rubber surfaces causing it to lose their elasticity or increasing their surface areas. It is also recommended for use on the caliper slider pin to prevent the slider rubber boot from expanding. Since I will be replacing my brake pads soon, might as well buy the 3M silicon paste.

Summit racing. 3 quarts of gear oil, 2 quarts of D4 plus 5quarts of Royal Purple high mileage engine oil cost a total of $111 and change qualifying for free shipping.

My alignment shop said that I would need a longer bolt to correct my alignment.
With the furthest they could thread, my car pulls to the right ever so slightly.. but, thinking about it annoys me.

Is there a longer bolt for our car? He said something about a 'cam bolt' but didn't give me a part #

Didn't realize the site was still under maintenance

..my car, though.

I didn't get any kind of special access privilege though. Just got lucky while the site was in maintenance mode.

I replaced mine driver side a year ago with A-1 CARDONE 606277 from Rockauto.com. No problem so far.

Hello guys. I have been canvassing for driver's side CV axle joint. Infinitiparts USA had it for $417 + shipping. My local dealership quoted me $560. I have checked for aftermarket parts and found this:

http://www.jcwhitney.com/a1-cardone...XA1CA1606276&gclid=CM2isMnB7coCFVQ2gQodBPcHGQ

Is it OK to use aftermarket that costs relatively less? Anybody here had to replace their front CV axle and took this route?

Thanks.

The rear indeed. The SPC kit should help you out more since you're stock height. With mine lowered, the kit put it at -1.2
Looks like it was the rear..

I found the vehicle specific for FX35. Thanks for posting the link. The part on the catalog says "Does not include ABS ring". Do I need to buy this as well?

Thanks again.

197k miles and I've never cleaned the throttle body. I was expecting it to be pretty dirty, but it doesn't look too bad.
For you guys that dig in here from time to time, is this mild, medium, or heavy dirt?
