The Random Question Thread

Yeah that
I ordered the lens and those spacers just in case I need them since I don't know if their necessary

They are needed, I used mine on my 2nd gen and I'm pretty sure you need them on the 1st generation as well.

Use the spacer between the lens and the housing where the lens is mounted. The spacer will change the focus distance of the lens and the bulb to give is a better focus and color.

Does anyone have a website where they check what maintenance service they should do according to schedule?
I've been using my local dealer (southwestinfiniti.com), but I've passed 240,000 and my model caps out at 240,000 miles.
Lol, so I have no idea what to do next.

Wow I'm glad these cars can reach those high miles! and I thought I had a lot with 113k.

Im gonna be replacing my front passenger side cv joint on my 2003 fx35 with AWD does anyone have a DIY for it or any input on how to do it. I have an idea but want to make sure, Thanks in advance!

Never mind I found the write up. Thanks anyhow.

Recently my trunk doesn't open as easily (non-motorized). I would be able to open it and the rest would open all the way up, but seems like over time it doesn't do it itself as much anymore.

I'm pretty sure I've caused this over time. I tried to put some lithium greese on them (in red in the photo) and it seems like it helped just barely. Washing my car so often back in the day I may have wiped down also the area I'm sure because before the lithium grease it was dry as a bone just dirty, but as I mention new lithium grease after cleaning the dirt off hasn't really helped much.

Any other ideas on what I can try and do? I didn't want to try wd-40 without asking on the forum first.

Jonas, mine is the same, it is very sluggish. I have thought of spraying the cylinder rods and hinges with clear Silicone spray lubricant, which I have not done yet. I figure the hydraulic cylinders are probably getting tired.

I think you just have to cycle the usual major maintenance every after 30k miles. Which means in your case, the next multiple major maintenance will be at 270k. In between the 30k cycle, I would just do the usual small regular preventive maintenance stuff every after 3,500 miles.

Supercharger!!!

Get new struts there's a lot of aftermarket I sure that'll fit it

Not that big of a deal to replace, just thought there would be an easy way to get them sliding easy again. I'll have to try Wayne's suggestion.

Does anyone think WD40 would be a bad idea? I've never seen anything make hinges swing open like crazy forever after putting some wd40 on it.
Jonas, I will try the silicone lube today, I will let you know if it helps.

JONAS- I just spayed the hatch strut rods with silicone lube and the hinges with a penetrating rust preservative. It helped a bit and quietened down one strut that had a light squeak, but the results were only minimal. It moves a bit better but I think new struts are the only answer if they get worse.

Does anybody have the wiring diagram to the stereo to install a GROM Bluetooth receiver ?

The GROM is plug and play. The only wire you need is 12V and ground. You can tab into the cigarette lighter wiring.

It looks relatively simple but I'm just stuck at the 12v cable that I need to attach to the constant power 12v. I tried a blue/white cable and nothing and then I tried a yellow one and nothing. Can you see if you can see the cigarette wiring or any other hot wire from these pics.

I go to http://www.mycarfax.com and in your case at 240,000 miles:
Engine oil-drain/refill
Engine coolant system-drain/flush/refill
Inspect
Transfer case fluid level
Transmission fluid level
Replace
Cabin air filter
engine air/oil filters

247,500 miles
Drain/refill oil
Replace oil filter
It looks like after 247,500 miles, services every 7,500 miles.
