I was bored in my computer class.
I couldn't figure out how to make the lips gloss black though; I'm still working on that. but here's my version of the grille and calipers, and I took off your antennae because it was bothering me, changed your reflector, and played with the image a little. I was bored :sad.:

wow bro, I was going to chop the antenna off too in my ps, it was annoying me too for some reason:tongue:

you still have the picture that makes the front wheel look huge & the tiny rear caliper:laugh:

my original original thoughts when I realized that my 20's were decaying was to do the centers body color & the lips gloss black, but I have not been able to get a realistic rendering to see what it will look like & I'm afraid it might look cheap after it's all done... can't figure out how to do that in ps... hard to visualize it too...

in the end I think I'm trying to come up with a way to avoid taking these new wheels apart, but I think at this point I may have too... sucks too because my 3 new tires came in this morning... ahhh, I could have them on by the afternoon... ahhh.... not sure what to do... think i'm going to check if these are really powdercoated or just painted, they claimed powdercoated but at this point I don't even know if I believe them, they've lied about so much else... gonna see if paint remover has any affect... if I can strip them with paint remover then polishing would be easy, but if they really are powdercoated then it would be a job & a half to get them back to polished.... not looking foward to that...

my painter suggested to me if they are painted & can be stripped, why not polish the centers & then do a body colored or just gloss black lip... could be interesting.... might try chopping that if I get a chance... might be too funky though...

I guess great minds think alike...? atleast fold your anttenae down like mine so it's less noticable haha.

for the wheel Ideas....It's hard to get a satin/matte surface to look glossy for me, and even after that it's hard to make them looked polished. If they were polished or chrome or even alloy in the beginning, colorign and stuff becomes alot easier, but it's kind of hard when you start with a matte black haha. I've been playing around with it in 2 day's worth of computer class (about 30 min total) even though that isnt alot of time, it's still a pain in the ass. I know there's a way to do it by duplicating layers, gaussian blurring it, gradient shading with white/transparent, but all I've tried it just doesn't look glossy.......

plus I don't even have photoshop, I use PAINT.net :-P

we'll see what happens

well, I just checked & guess what, there PAINTED!!!! friggin lieing bastards  unless by some chance paint remover happens to remove powdercoating this easily, I doubt it, but never tried honestly.... anyone have powdercoated wheels & want to try putting some paint remover on to tell me what happens??

at this point, screw it, I'm taking them apart... no option for me really.... I have too... the matte black just isn't doing it for me, maybe if they were gloss black then I might have accepted them easier, but as is, I think pman said it best, went from classy to race look... not looking to be too racy looking..

one thing from all this though is, I think I like looking at my grille blacked out... hmmmm

here's what you should do

gloss black lip, satin black face

black out your grille as shown

red calipers

take off your antennae

I think gloss black lip & semi centers will still have this overall black wheel look though... I like the way blacked out wheels look with the stockers, but for some reason with a 3 piece with a lip it just looks a little too over the top... I was thinking of being a little edgy & different when I ordered them all black, but now in person I think it's a bit much for me...

wish I could play more with the different options in ps, but getting these subtle color & gloss differences are beyond what I can do in ps...

so, wimp out & just go conventional with a polished lip?? might be the best option for me right now... don't think I want too unconventional of a look really... at least that's safe in that I know I'm not going to hate it after...

I may shave my roof antenna when I replace my windshield & molding around the windshield, but not until then... some day... maybe when I do my headliner I'll co ordinate all of that... half thinking about shaving the sunroof off too, but only half considering that... replacing the whole roof panel doesn't seem like too much fun at this point...

had to try one just to see how bad it would be... luckily they didn't even bother to lock tite the bolts, firt time I've seen that, but it came apart easily enough because of that

so far I only stripped one outer rim just to see... I'm probably going to strip everything & respray the centers too, still not 100% sure but maybe body color center with polished lip... my painter is still saying painted lip & polished center... not sure yet, but still a while before I'm up to doing much with these I think..., sucks, I could have been driving home on them tonight too

if you body color the center, is it still going to be a matte black look or glossy look?

on a side note - maybe a little too late lol -
I was thinking maybe you could go extreme and take this route - Get your FX wrapped in flat black vinyl for a year or two with those rims flat black also... Idk how you feel about flat black and having it as a DD but definitely would be unique/head turner

Hmmmm I;ve been debating about all black rims too...but I don't like the look of all black and the chrome/silver strip and door handles, plus Turbo has a silver rack just like me. Makes me think the wheels has to have some silver in it, think a silver center is enough? I do like the lip to be black - nice touch.

silver or polished center with a black lip might work, I'm going to try & see if I can photoshop that later to see it...

I will be spraying glossy I think... & as far as making the fx flat black, not for me, it def looks sick, but too sick for a daily driver for me...

Go for a different look, I think the black lip with the machined face would be different and unique from most FXs on this site. Probably most FXs in general, don't think I've seen one with a black lip only.

I say stay with polished or get the lips chromed and keep the center satin or semi-gloss finish. Its not original but its sporty yet classy and will not get boring. IMO the raced out look with black lips has no contrast with the tires and makes everything look kind if scruffy and dirty looking.

+1 on black lip. Honestly speaking, I've never liked the mattish gloss of a polished lip. Plus, it's such a common look with a polished lip and painted center. I say get the lips black and center painted or if you can do it, a brushed look.

+2...I think that to make the wheels blend with whatever you decide, one of the colors/finishes need to blend with or shine like your FX...lol. As you can see the opinions are all over the board...lol. I think a brushed look face with a black lip to match the finish/color of your FX is going to set you out from all the rest. When my wheels have lost their luster Im going to paint my lip black. In fact I had a set ordered with the black lip and changed my mind when I found my current set of wheels. Like EG3 said Black face wheel/polish lip is very common, not to say it does not look good, just common. Either way you have the ability to take a look and change it if you are not satisfied.

had my guys start to strip the wheels...

now I got a big problem....

I began stripping the wheels & come to find the strangest thing. somehow somewhere along the line someone must have screwed up, turns out they mistakenly chromed my front lips, then proceeded to paint directly over the chrome. I chemically stripped & find a perfect chrome finish under black paint, perfect flawless chrome, not sanded or prepped at all for paint even, just perfect chrome??? the worse part is, the fronts are chrome while the rears are brushed raw aluminum, so now I have a mis-matched set of wheels.

at this point I am going to contact iforged directly myself & try to get them to resolve this, as this is totally unacceptable to me,

I was willing to accept the minor brake interference & the raw aluminum inner barrel of a full black wheel even, but this? winding up with a chrome front lip & a raw aluminum rear lip is ridiculous, stripping the chrome the right way would require sending out to a chrome plater to strip properly, no way I'm going to accept having to paint over chrome on a set of custom built wheels & no way I'm about to start grinding chrome off by hand, I didn't buy a cheap set of ebay wheels,

let me see what they will do to correct this situation, I want nothing less than a matching set of rims at the very least, which I don't think is asking too much. they can either send me a raw aluminum front lip or even a chromed rear lip, either will work, but this miss-matched set is just unacceptable, how can they send a set of wheels out like this? I can only imagine what these front lips would have looked like a year from now if left as-is, shiny high polished chrome just painted over with no prep? wow, I forged is not what I thought it was if this is considered normal or acceptable to them...

here's a few photo's :
