Wipe New (Restore Your Black Bumper Trim)

Here's a pic of the rear trim...looks great in my opinion. I'm thinking of doing a second coat because there are couple hazy spots and streaks in a few areas. It's really only noticeable because I know where they are, you probably wouldn't notice them unless you knew where to look at:

Yeah it's good stuff and worth it now that it's available everywhere, when I bought it for the first time I got raped by their website lol. Your bumpers look good.

So hows the protection so far? Also will it not damage painted part if prolong used?

On their web site they say it's safe on paint and they actually have a video of a guy restoring an old car with the stuff. However I WOULD NOT recommend using it on paint unless you are extremely good at applying it. The stuff dries fast and smears in a noticeable fashion if not applied correctly. As far as I know MOST of the people, including myself, who are happy with the results have ONLY used it on the black non-painted portion of the lower bumper trims.

It lasts a very long time, I still haven't gotten around to applying a second coat since my original post and while it definitely has worn off a lot, it still looks better than it would with nothing on it. IMO that's crazy.

sorry to bring back an old thread, but can I ask how the Wipe New has held up over time? I've heard mixed reviews.. I've been reading about/considering some products made by SEM, anyone ever heard of them/used their products? https://www.semproducts.com/refinish-bumper-coaters supposed to be one coat with no adhesion promoter needed..

This is what I need to fix on mine.. Planning to sand it out and fill any gaps/holes with JB plastic weld.. Afraid to use the Wipe New on top of the filler, no idea how it'll react with it

I would use the Sem Bumper Coater if that's my bumper. I have good experience with other Sem products. The Wipe New sounds too thin to me and will probably won't cover the fillings.

I'm no body or detail expert so I really couldn't tell you how well it would work to cover up really noticeable scratches. In my opinion it's not meant for that purpose, it's meant to restore the trim after it looks like it's gotten dull and ashy looking from being weathered. The best way to described the way the Wipe New looks and works is that it's like giving your trim a coat of Armor All that takes a very long time to wear off.

Turtle wax makes something similar called endura-shine trim coating, I used it once last year and once just 2 weeks ago and the two coats made the trim look brand new with no streaks and lasts for months. I also use the tire coating as well, three coats last about 6 months. After washing and drying, both tires and trim look like you applied dressing.

I'd have to sand down the scratches first, fill in any deep chips, and then coat the bumper with something to clean it up.. I dont think the WipeNew would be aggressive enough for me, thinking my choices are between SEM bumper coater or Eastwood Plastic Resurfacer http://www.eastwood.com/ew-plastic-resurfacer-matte-black-aerosol.html
