What other cars did you consider buying before the FX?

I considered a few, all in the "late model used" category. The primary contenders were:
- RX350
- RDX
- RAV4
- Forester
Infiniti won because it offers the best bang-for-your-buck in my target price range. Features that are standard would have pushed the cost of a RAV4 or Forester up to comparable levels, and the Infiniti already had the majority of its price depreciation baked in already.

The RX350 is just uglyand the AWD system seems inferior, plus they tend to be more overpriced here. The MDX seemed okay, but it is a bit too common, and it has that grill/beak that only a mother could love.

As for the FX, Infiniti's AWD has gotten great reviews (important for traveling in the mountains here in CO in the winter), the styling is downright sexy, I LOVE the engine, 7 speed transmission, and my last car (G35 coupe MT) was very satisfying to drive and own. The look seems like it will age better as well, which is important to me because I keep my cars for 5+ years. I'm hoping for more out of this one, maybe 7-8.

Test drove the following:
BMW X3 and X5
Audi Q5 2.0 and 3.2 and Q7 4.2
Cadillac SRX and Escalade
Lexus RX350
Acura RDX and MDX
Buick Enclave
Mercedes-Benz GLK and R350
2007 and 2009 FX35 AWD

Decided on the 2009 FX35 as it rode and handled better than the first generation. Only other two I liked were the Q5 3.2 (would have purchased it but itr had dmaage the dealer would not repair) and the Escalade (too much of a pig on gas!). Also liked the R350 but after having a R500, the 3.5L V6 didn't cut it!

I had a 04 Murano. I really liked it, nice and comfy. But I wanted something a bit more sporty and a bit more luxurious. My in-mind natural progression was to check out the FX's. After that, I knew I wanted the 4.5. Set forth finding the FX45. I had considered maybe getting another Trailblazer (but an SS this time), but after I test drove my current FX, my mind was set.

Good choice, . . but there's no way a 2nd gen handles better than the 1st ;)

I owned the last two on your list and considered both of them among the worse vehicles I had ever owned.

Glad I went in a different direction then!

Haha...no arguments there. My 35 was on BC coils too :good: But the power on the new ride will get you in trouble quick!

I looked at a BMW M5 but I couldn't afford it. Since the day I saw a G35 on a car magazine, I fell in love with the Infiniti brand. I love Japanese cars, Infiniti specially!!! I am pretty happy with my FX50S right now.

Was also looking at bimmers, but an X5. But after reading horror stories with German cars, decided to go Japanese.. And ultimately Infiniti as I've always loved Infiniti. Had a G35 coupe before. Looked at a few G37 sedans and almost bought one until a last minute search online showed a pretty sweet FX35. Fell in love and took her home the next day :)

It came down to the FX and an Audi TT for me in 2007. The TT was a better fit at the time. I never got over wanting the FX, so when it came time for a second vehicle (and now that I'm married with child), it could only be a Gen 1 FX.

We were looking for a Buick Enclave because my wife liked that type of car and we were looking for our next family car. Instead we walked out w/an infinity. We truly didn't think it was in our budget but the dealership was willing to work with us on it so we took the deal. No brainer! Infinity vs Buick.jajajaja no comparison. The only compromise: 4 yrs older but uncomparable quality. truly blessed and happy with the purchase.
