What other cars did you consider buying before the FX?

This is my first fx I bought it for me to have a kinda go anywhere do anything car but my wife has a new escalade and won't drive it in bad weather so she has taken over the fx and I'm stuck back in the Honda Element !

Acura MDX, Honda Pilot, and Toyota Highlander. Ended up going this one as it had a telescoping steering wheel and every MDX we found was absolutely beat up or our of our price range.

I had lots of Maximas prior to the FX. That was before I bought a house and needed extra space to carry things. I've always been a Nissan fanboy, but I never liked a Murano.

Used (E70 LCI) X5, RX350, Q5.

X5 is a nice truck and a good value since the replacement is out now. But I did not want to maintain a second BMW without much warranty left. I think most of the bugs are worked out for ~2012 35i and it was the second contender.

RX350 has some serious incentives now. I think they look okay, and they are fine A to B. It's mostly the wife's car anyway. But they are just too vanilla and boring.
Q5 is like the RX350, but with some German solidity. Nothing special, but a fine car. A bit overpriced for its dated platform, IMO.
I had a 2006 FX years ago that I liked and these still hold a unique place in the market. I actually don't think they are the most stylish things (which is too bad because their style also compromises a lot on interior practicality), but they offer a good combination of sport (not necessarily outright performance, but fun), technology, and value (being Japanese, mostly).

I got rid of my 06 Corvette 2 months ago and looked at quite a few alternatives until finally picking up my 2010 yesterday. I considered a Lexus RX350 (too boring), Nissan Murano (been there, done that twice), Audi Q5 (too low for me), BMW X5 (just didn't do it for me!) and a Porsche Cayenne (Loved it, but was afraid of potential repair costs).

Had a 2009 MDX but once i saw the new model FX, I made a switch to the FX35 (2009). Cleaner lines, less fam mobile, and the interior was a notch above. While I liked the FX 35, one test drive of an FX50 had me hooked to move up to the V-8. Leased a 2011 FX50 Tech. Loved the car, but felt it was missing something, so I found a new 2013 FX50 Sport/Tech for a fair price (in Fall 2014). Buying this one as I want to hold onto the V-8 and didn't think the lease buyout on the 2011 was worth it.

I was thinking of replacing my 04 fx with a 2012 c300 Benz until I test drove it. I was so dissatisfied with how heavy the car felt. Liked the way it looks and wanted something with awd. Came home with a second gen fx instead.

I was torn between the grand Cherokee and the FX35. I saw an FX35 with all terrain tires and was somewhat lifted. Yes, lifted. I thought that was the best looking thing ever. That is when I decided I wanted just that. Now that I have it, I can't find any photos of lifted FX35. I see people hating on the idea of making the FX35 more macho.

I looked at Lexus RX350, Audi Q5, VW Touareg, but in Cali you see those all over the place and I wanted something different but sporty. You can't beat the stock exhaust note from the FX. Once I heard that I was sold!
