What did you do to your FX / QX70 today?

They say it's private, and had a security hut thing, but gates were open. It looked like a pretty cool location from the satellite view though.

Didn't lose any fluid, just a few drops. I thought some would come out, but it turns out the pan is lower than the cooler.
how did you drain the fluid? from the tranny plug? Or did you just disconnect the hose and let w/e flow out( if this way how much came out and how much did you have to add?

Since its not an expensive mod, would it be beneficial to add to the car, even if i don't have any type of tranny mod? Or would it cause some problems? (Always looking for mods :rotfl: )
I like it, nothing earth shattering, but it cleans up the shifts. Only downside is that the 2-3 is more abrupt now and it was already somewhat abrupt stock. No issues in auto mode, but if I shift in manual mode at partial throttle, it will bang into 3rd pretty hard. At WOT, it shifts firmly, but no bang. All the complaints about the Transgo are similar for the 2-3 shift. Basically it doesn't change any characteristics, but it makes an annoying one more so. I originally got it with the intention of boosting, but that plan is up in the air right now. IMO, if you just have standard bolt ons, there isn't much value. It doesn't make the FX any faster and the shifts were never sloppy, so not huge gains. I got the cooler because the VB mod puts more stress on the transmission fluid and it's cheap insurance. Is it necessary? Depends, but for $50, better safe than sorry. On my last car, I had a custom VB mod because I was running over twice the OEM power through a stock transmission and it would slip so much that it would hit rev limiter before finishing a shift. I ran it for a while without a cooler, and it would still start slipping if I made a lot of full boost runs. After the cooler, it stayed a bit more consistent and the temperature was much lower (had a gauge). Heat kills transmissions, so I feel better having one.

Since she recently turned 100K I changed the spark plugs finally today. After plugs went in I hand cleaned the engine since I had most of it out.

Transmission cooler? It can't hurt and will help prolong tranny life. If you ever tow it is helpful too. Since you're running through factory cooler in radiator, transmission will still get to normal operating temp.

The DIY on the G forum said he added 1/2 quart, but that was with 10 ft of hose. FX routing is slightly more direct so I added 1/4 quart to start and it ended up being enough. But it will depend on some things so I would just add a little to start. I just added through dipstick like usual.

Awesome, I do tow my bike to races, so it's a must for me :) could you share a link to DIY??? How big of a cooler did you use? I think I saw three sizes...

I used this as a guide, even used the same model B&M Cooler. But I routed things a bit differently since the FX has much more room. Didn't drill holes for the hose routing, I just modified a thin piece of plastic behind the headlight. Also, don't pull the bumper, it's not necessary. I just took the grill off and there is a ton of room to work. http://g35driver.com/forums/engine-...nsmission-cooler-w-inline-filter-install.html

The battery in my friend's 2007 FX35 bit the dust in this -10 F weather and he asked me to help him. The car was so frozen that those damn clips holding the battery compartment shattered the moment I applied any pressure to them.

Installed the Morimoto 6k's last night for my headlights. My hands are not made for those openings. Pain in the a**. Also found out guy who owned car before me (thank you ViperI) installed an aftermarket ballast on passenger side and left the other ballast in place. Probably going to install a new OEM ballast or at least ballasts on each side that match. The current one does not lock onto the Morimoto bulb, also it does not have the yellow cord.

dont they look different color wise? i have the same setup and the aftermarket ballast changes the color a bit when illuminated

Yeah, I don't see any difference between the two. Was the old bulb you took out lock onto the projector? If it does, then I would verify if the Morimoto is indeed D2S type.

I don't remember exactly where I saw this or the details, but it was something with a ballast being replaced and it made a huge difference in the light appearance. So I could see the ballast type affecting light output.

There is definitely a difference in color, more noticeable than with my OEM bulbs. I always thought I was losing my mind when I first bought the car but now it makes sense. I bought the Morimoto's directly from a TRS authorized dealer here in NJ. I will have him look at it when he installs my fog HIDs next week. StuLax good idea, I will double check today to see if it locks on. I don't think it did because both connections (OEM and aftermarket on passenger side) kind of fell out when I first opened the dust cap to change it. I am not too comfortable with that set up. Anyone have a good OEM 2004 FX HID ballast site for me to purchase?

Dracula, how noticeable was the color difference once your lights were broken in? I may opt for a new OEM ballast or two aftermarket ballasts to match if I am going to have the same issue. The driver's side definitely has a nicer color to it right now.

ive had morimotos for a while now about 3-4 years. Few months back i added an aftermarket ballast and the color shifted noticeable more like a true 6.5k or even bluer. I dont like it though it looks cheap compared to stock ballast (on the other side). The stock side has a bit more white rather than blue and looks oe material. Im definitely going to switch out the aftermarket ballast.

I am going to do the same, that will drive me insane. Thanks for the input.

grammar

Bought a set of Yokohama Prada x 285-40-22 for my newly powder coated wheels.
I've search some the previous Threads to help me with a small issue with my tpms but can not find any answers.
I took the tpms from the factory wheels and installed them on the 22" wheels. I bought a TPMS Service kit to change out the
Washer and pin and now everything is installed. but I noticed when I went to check the tire pressure it shows ** for the pressure.
Did the guys in the shop do something wrong or is there something I need to do to fix this issue?
Oh and I am trying to take some pictures but it has been raining for the past three days hopefully I have a better luck tomorrow.
