What did you do to your FX / QX70 today?

Finally got around to pulling the headlights. Painted semigloss black with shrouds left chrome. Also tinted the side reflector, added TSX-R clear lenses and painted the cutoff shield for a "demon" eye look. Other light is still curing.

They say F1 teams spend millions to gain a 1 second advantage. I am on my way with my carbon fiber antenna.

Very nice, what type of paint you use on the shield?

Just engine enamel, I think it's Duplicolor (whatever Autozone had). Rated for 600 deg. F so should be good. I hit it with the heat gun for a while, partly to get it to gas off before I install and partly to test heat resistance. Paint held up. I thought about using aluminum from coke cans on the shield to get a bigger red effect, but then I worried about how any attachment method would hold up to heat and whehter it would interfere with movement. I saw on some other cars where people did this and it looks much more red, but I didn't want a messed up shield and have to pull the headlights again. Same reason I didn't go with LED's to light the projector. If they fail, I have to pull everything.

Finally got the stuck brake fitting off, PB blaster took care of it. Was getting worried since hard line started to bend. Will bleed them tomorrow and put front end of car back together.

Hopefully will have time to install Stillen VB that showed up a few days ago.

Nice job bro, Im thinking I may have to open mine up again

Been accumulating too many parts over the last few months. Told myself I had to put some one before I bought more. Still have valve body and GT Spec lower engine brace once the hardware arrives. Also have parts for the BMW to install. So I just carved out time each day to work on it. I don't have to drive FX every day so I can do a little without having to put it back together each night.

You've been a busy man recently.

Thanks, and yes I have standard Akebono decals. Haven't put them on yet since I was touching the paint up a little.

Looks great Shadow. Any plans to put a decal or something?

Finally got the front 12kg/mm springs on. Pic shows new springs on left and standard 8kg/mm springs on right. You can see they're much beefier. Took it for a test drive to bed Akebono brakes and the car handles way better. The steering actually feels lighter since I turned the damping down and the car responds to bumps now instead of crashing over them like it was before with damping on max.

Also put headlights back in and installed RareJDM wire harness cover. Had to remove a bracket holding the engine harness and push the wires back, but it fits on the AWD pretty well. Pics tomorrow, phone died.

Please do, and also send me or post up the link of where you got it from. I want one of these as tucking that main harness wire is out of my league...

Pic of the harness cover installed. Sort of just test fitting right now, need to go find some polished bolts since the dress up kit bolts don't fit. Also need to repolish it and will relocate the ugly grounds on the timing cover. Going to order polished plenum and TB shortly.

I picked it up used from the 350Z forums.

And here's what the Akebono brakes look like behind the wheels. Don't mind the monster truck ride height. The 12kg/mm springs jacked up my front end 1.5" since they don't really sag at all vs. the normal BC springs. This pic was even after I already tried to compensate by lowering the perch 1/2". With the old springs, I was tucking the tire tread on a setting higher than this. I'm going to measure and drop it more shortly.

And terrible pic, but how the headlights look installed. Car looks so much meaner without all that chrome.

NOOB FX35AWD owner here. Changed out all the interior lights to LED's yesterday and changed the spark plugs out today. rotors and pads next week.

filled out some paint chips with a touch up pen and then leveled them out by sanding. Also found out that my KH3 black paint is the same as the paint on my GF's cheap Versa. You would think we would get better paint than a Versa!!!

Today I installed a STB (a.k.a. Stillen Tchuck Bar). I was so excited that I put it on right away even though I know I will be taking it off again for some paint and polish. To not scratch the fender paint, I cut some temporary cork gaskets.
I like the feel and touch. Can't wait to take some swift turns and try it out.
