What did you do to your FX / QX70 today?

Cleared my schedule for Sunday...

best choice as far as bolt-on headers, I heard nightmares on the installation part. let us know how many hours on installation :tongue (2):.

i'm feeling a bit jealous..

Good luck with that Tim! There's a reason I've done every intake/exhaust mod except for headers haha.

Sounds like a challenge... I'll be sure to take some good pictures for you. For the record, I'll be using hand tools and ramps, in my driveway, most likely in the rain.

I believe he meant by torching the bolt and exhaust flanges will loosen and allow easier bolt movement otherwise they might snap directly if forced upon.

There are opposing opinons for removing nasty bolts. One idea is to heat up the bolt to expand the metal to help.break it free. Don't loosen hot, but allow to cool first. Freon or compressed CO2 Dust Off, or ice cubes can help. You only want to get the bolt to break the threads.
The other aurgument is to start cold and go hot if needed. Spray lube (WD40 or Liquid Wrench), let penetrate, firm smack with hammer, attempt to loosen with constant pressure. Torque both directions while tapping on breaker bar to get it to break free. If that doesn't work, turn the engine on to heat the block. Contract, expand, contract. Best tools are a long breaker bar and six point socket to save the heads. Kind of like a relationship. Lube it, tap it, keep constant pressure on it while you keep tapping it.

I take no responsibility if a bolt breaks. If one does, a reverse direction drill bit will hopefully break the threads free.

VERY NICE Pman!!

Washed the FX today. Neighbors always think I'm crazy for washing it once a week lol. Oh well they need to mind their own business their not paying my water bill so stfu :)

I took advantage of the 60° winter weather yesterday and gave it a nice wash and quick detail. I spotted 2 loose pitbulls and they spotted me. They started running my way, I thought about getting in the fx but were afraid they would jump on it and scratch it so I made a mad dash for my house. Literally made it in with no time to spare.

You should have stayed put and said hello...pitties are big softies.

Around here they have a bad rap. In the city you must apply for a permit to own one, and they deny most people. They looked friendly but I was not about to find out the hard way.

I like the idea of applying to own a certain breed instead of an all out breed ban. Experience and leadership is utmost with regards to owning and training strong working breeds.
