What did you do to your FX / QX70 today?

Installed the iSimple iPod interface. It worked out pretty nice, the cable charges and can be setup as an aux input so that you can control the music through the iPod. If you set it up as the iPod setting it's all controlled through the head unit which I don't like doing.

Nice install. I'm liking that plug quite a bit.. Have you considered using a blendmount for your radar detector?

Nice install!

One thing about the blend mount I've noticed....sometimes I remove the radar detector from the blend mount and then after the second time (sometimes even the first time) of doing it, the blend mount screws will loosen so if you don't retighten the bottom screw, the radar can wiggle as you drive. So I find myself more and more not removing it when leaving the car, but it worries me. It's kind of hard to see with the tint and all and since it is not attached directly on the mirror but still.

Do you guys leave it or remove it from blend mount. Also, do you know what I'm talking about it getting loose after wiggling the radar off the mount? What a pain imo if you remove/attach a lot!

Remove it when in bad neighborhoods, but never had that loose screw issue. I haven't removed it much since Ive had the front tinted.

I don't have the Blendmount, but I always remove my detector both to deter thieves and prevent it from sitting in sun. I've had friends tell me theirs stopped working as well and they blamed it on leaving it always mounted in their car, and thus in the sun.

How does the sun have an impact on future functionality?

Probably due to it baking in the direct sunlight. In the summer, I use those cheapo windshield sun visors you get just to block some of the heat and it also hides the detector too. But this year will be different because I have 50% on my windshield now. Hopefully it will help with the heat this summer.

Wow, I must have missed that. You got 50% done on the windshield! Isn't that super dark!? i thought windshields were done like 80%?

my dash and such are so much cooler with the 45% windshield tint....not worried about that just thieves.

Hmm, I remove mine each day when I got to work parking lot and no loose screw.

I will have you take a look at it on the 29th when I'm in town if that is still going on...we'll see what the deal is. Maybe I'm doing something stupid.

Oil change, spark plugs, belts changed, about to hit 120k miles and still as strong when I bought it at 60k !

nice!!!!

Wow I have never even seen one of those before, that is really great. I wouldn't mind trying to blend mount the X50 and seeing if I can use the mirrortap power cord. THank you for the link.

Can use a regular phone cord to tap power.
