What did you do to your FX / QX70 today?

Hopefully I'll be giving it a wash. Will be fun to see how the two coats of sealant held up after 3 months of no washes.

Football is beckoning though...
 
Removed the heat shields above the cats and greatly reduced the rattling sound that I had under hard acceleration. I'm going to try to reform them a bit so they can be reinstalled. Also properly torqued (again) and applied loctite to one of my alternator mounting bolts which had started to come loose.

I blame the heat shields for all of my rattling/resonance that still exists after all bolts on the exhaust are tightened. I finally banged them out around the resonators on the mid pipe, but when I was last under there noticed they were touching again. Must have moved around a bit. :mad.:
 
Here's a shot of the spot on the driver's side that was rubbing. The other shield had no marks like this but was really close. I could definitely hear it rattling when engine braking.

As of now the rattle/weird resonance is cured but the rasp/drone remains. Baby steps...

Yeah, I get a little rattle upon startup now if the rev's are high enough. Seems to not happen when warm though. Sucks because I'm leaving in a couple days. I guess when I put the mid chassis on I can check over everything again.

Finally got around to cleaning it. The sealant held up really well, and I put another coat on now. Might do one more before I leave for good measure. Probably gonna put tire shine on, too. For some reason they turned brown, which the current tire shine shouldn't do.

Where are the problem shields located? (no mockery please=)) been too long and I've lost touch with the FX......
 
Mine are right above the cats and I think Stu's are right above his resonator (mid pipe).

Going to have to watch this carefully. I rember mine in the far back were acting up when the Invidia first went on and it made me crazy. Then the Exhaust made me crazy =)
